Even if you took a prime RJJ and shrunk him to a Welterweight sized RJJ, I think he'd have the style to give Mayweather fits. His speed, work rate, power, athleticism, reflexes, would have Mayweather on the end of a points defeat. As for the RJJ this thread is asking about, he'll crush Mayweather's shoulder role defence and stop him pretty badly. It's not a fair match up at all
wrong, lots of guys tried to swarm and bully roy.. like that huge guy that just got out of prison. dont know his name.. roy just usually KOed them. and nobody remembers what he overcomed for that KO they just say he fought a bum. same goes for mayweathers wins. by the way, judah never "beat the **** out of" mayweather. here is an unbiased highlight of the fight. judah would have had to have landed about 10 more of those right hooks before mayweather took over to have "beat the ****" out of him [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeURoJXiOdY[/ame]
Wow, how much revising of history is possible in one post? RJJ was ahead on the cards and in the process of knocking out Griffin in the first fight when he fouled. He was never outboxed, he had some problems for the first time in his career. How he handled Griffin in the rematch was one of the most devastating performances at LHW ever against a fighter who was good enough to give Toney trouble. Hopkins was older than RJJ, how is a fighter green at age 28? Toney was p4p top 3 at leats when Roy dominated him, how can such a win be overrated? Roy didn't fight Gman, Benn, Eubank, but he fought Ruiz who would have beaten all of those. He didn't fight DM, but fought Hill and Hall and looked much more dominant against them than DM Mayweather lost to DHL? In which fight, the one where he landed more punched and made him miss half the night?
Griffin was smashing him, Griffin was a midget and bemused him with his skill, HBO had RJJ up because he was teh golden boy, neurtal observers had Griffin schooling him, RJJ DQ'ed himself because he needed an escape clause, in his head he knew he was losing, then, the disgusting illegal punch ruined Griffin hence his loss in the next fight and no resistance from Griffin, not because of RJJ, but because of the illegal blow in the previous fight. Ruiz wouldn't beat anyone, Haye killed Ruiz, RJ couldn't even KO a green Ruiz.atsch DLH deserved a 10-8 round when he landed 40 combos to Mayweathers ribs, every pundit thought a blown up ODLH smashed Mayweather, but Mayweather gets a career of gifts, look what Pac did to ODLH, he didn't even get punched, yet Mayweather was sore and scarred up. Ruiz beaten
i agree that jones would have a good style to beat may even if they were the same size.. but im not gonna bet on either fighter in that one. maybe mayweather could make him reluctant
Nah, Mayweather is great, but he has no chance against a fighter like Roy at MW. Too big, too fast, too strong. Mismatch for sure.
meant if they were the same size.. clearly roy would be pretending to be a chicken and fluttering his wings around at MW :yep
oldh was blown up for that fight? what are you basing that on, how good he looked at 147 against pac? your posts always give me a laugh
If this is sarcasm, OK, otherwise you need some serious psychological evaluation. Griffin was going down from legal punches, the illegal one didn't ruin him. Haye beat an ancient Ruiz, RJJ beat a prime Ruiz. There was nothing green about Ruiz after his win over Holyfield. DHL's fight with Mayweather was close, but the idea that every pundit had DHL winning is just stupid. DHL was mostly remembered for not using his jab enough and then saying "it wasn't the night of the jab". Pac was great against DHL, but that version of Oscar was absolutely terrible and weight drained. You degraded Roy's win over Toney because of weight issues, but fail to mention the same issue with Pac - DHL...
