Well isn't that exactly what your doing ? What your accusing me of doing ? All your saying is "Toney will do better if he's motivated" what kind of argument is that ? RJJ was the biggest fight of his life and he wasn't motivated ? So where is this mythical ATG super motivated Toney at Light Heavyweight coming from ? Because it never happened in real time. Toney wasn't motivated to show fire in his belly to turn it up vs Griffin in a rematch ? In which could’ve earnt him a rematch vs RJJ ? So you assume alot with actual no factual performances to back it up. Toney laboured to a modest 8-3 record at Light Heavyweight with not a single win over a top 10 rated Light Heavyweight and losing to the unremarkable Drake Thadzi. Yet im expected to believe Toney is going run a prime RJJ close in a weightclass Toney did absolutely nothing at ? So again all of this is pure fantasy there is no debate or argument here at all.
The whole Toney - Jones debate rematch is mythical. I gave you the basis.: Toney would be the underdog in a Jones rematch with something to prove. In those occasions in the past Toney has turned up motivated and in shape: Nunn, Mc Callum I, Barkley, Jirov, Holyfield. You do not agree that Toney would turn up in shape. Further, even if Toney would be in shape, you do not believe that would make any difference. I disagree with you. Fine then, let's move on.
I wasn't arguing that Toney would not be in shape lol. Didn't address them? I blew them out of the water, as did multiple others in this thread. You said, and i quote - "You know, Toney did train to the level of his opponents". That's blatant BS, but nice try lol. Jones was #3 P4P in the world yet you claim Toney didn't train properly for him. If Toney trained "to the le vel of his opponents" how did he not train for the #P4P in the world? Your opposing comments are the height of hypocrisy and you label one of my points ridiculous? Try some honesty and consistency for once. I said "Toney was not the underdog against Barkley". You said, and again i quote! "For the Barkley fight, the odds changed just before the fight and Toney became a narrow favorite." You are labelling my point that Toney not being the underdog for Toney "ridiculous"????? He WAS the underdog! When they went into the ring Toney was the narrow favorite. Who's point was ridiculous, again? lol You also stated, and yet again i quote - "Griffin and an old Mc Callum showed that it is possible to compete with that version of Roy Jones. I guess it is safe to say that a fully prepared Toney would put up a competitive fight." As i told you, McCallum didn't win a round! He also got dropped. This is showing it is possible to compete against Jones at that weight? He competed about as well as Toney did vs Jones - not one iota. In a hilarious way you are correct, Toney would compete about as well as McCallum did vs Jones. Like he did in the first fight. It's also widely claimed Jones cruised with Mike as he loved him and his resume. He didn't get out of first gear truth be told. When i called you on it you run away like a scalded cat yet had the audacity to claim i didn't address your arguments? End of discussion as you said, you've got nothing. Don't try the usual old calm down and that sort of stuff. I am as cool as a frozen cucumber, if points aren't made very strongly and clearly to you they don't bed in, not even remotely. 10-20 years ago in here Toney was held in reasonably high but very balanced regard. In the last few years he's become grossly overrated, As Meta spells out extremely well. You picked him over Usyk at cruiserweight a few years ago. How do you think that's aged? LOL
Well you have nothing. Your post is just nitpicking. The Barkley point was just embarrassing, as I exposed in my previous post. Also, it is well known that James generally used to train to the level of his opponents. Yes, this was the case for the Griffin fights as I said. You are the one trying to make a link to the Jones fight which I never made. I told you why Toney would be in shape for the Jones rematch. You had zero answer for that and opened up a meaningless sideshow on Barkley. Now you are all of sudden backtracking. You are not happy how Toney is regarded here, well that is your problem, deal with it. For the rest, I am not going to answer any of your nitpicking silly new points. for what? to get further sidetracked in meaningless discussions that have nothing to do with the subject matter of the thread. End of discussion.
