Usyk has more offensive skill than anybody Jones ever fought and he`s a southpaw, P4P he wouldn`t have needed to fights to out-class the likes of Griffin.
Usyk landed more punches on his opponents at cruiser than Jones used to land far less shots against his opponents which is why he got hit less.
Easy fight for Usyk. He's blinding fast, much bigger, stronger, etc. Usyk bodybags Toney and gives RJJ a serious ass whooping.
He wasn’t blinding fast at CW. Fast, for sure. I don’t think he’d have body bagged Toney at CW. Zero evidence to support that opinion. A serious a$$ whooping to Roy? Possibly. But like I’ve already said, he’s never seen anyone with Roy’s gifts at HW. Easy to make these claims, without having seen it. He’s never fought anybody as elusive or as fast as what Roy was.
It doesn’t matter. He’s still never faced anyone with Roy’s gifts. And it’s how they’d have matched up on the night stylistically. I can say that Maris Briedis isn’t on the level of Roy and Toney. You’re telling me that he’s blindingly fast. No, he’s not blindingly fast. You’re telling me that he’d have body bagged Toney. But Toney has never been body bagged. And who has Usyk beaten with Toney’s skills and style? Maris Breidis came close to beating him, by fighting up close, on the inside. And he’s not much bigger than Toney, and not as skilled. And Toney was great on the inside. We wanted to see a rematch, but it sadly never happened. You can’t watch that fight and then watch the Toney-Jirov fight, and say that Toney would have been body bagged. People can talk about Lebedev and Tarver etc beating Roy, but it’s irrelevant BS. Usyk wouldn’t have been fighting those versions of Roy. It’s skewed logic. Otherwise, Ruiz would easily have beaten Roy, considering that he was a much bigger threat than Glen Johnson was. But that’s not how it works. Also, if a completely shot version of Roy could take Lebedev to the brink of defeat, apart from the final minute, then the Ruiz version of Roy would have played with Dennis Lebedev. Fair enough, the Ruiz fight alone isn’t much to go on. But I believe that even if Usyk had’ve won, then Roy would have had some success. I saw Tony Belew have some early success against Usyk. He’s not Superman. I don’t think he had an off night against Briedis. I think it was just a tough stylistic match up for him. Again, a rematch could have cleared things up. You’d have been a fool to have completely written off Roy and Toney. They’d have had a chance.
Breidis would punch a hole through Toney and Hopkins and RJJ. He's 6'2" and built like the Terminator. Usyk has beaten guys who would send RJJ and his toughest opponents to the hospital.
Roy didn`t look great a heavyweight, Tyson and Paterson threw faster combos at heavy than Roy. Usyk doesn`t look that much slower than Roy at heavyweight and he displays more movement than Roy did v Ruiz.
So now Breidis is the Terminator. No. Go and watch their fight. Breidis was never punching a hole through Toney. A shot, fat Toney went to war with Sam Peter. This is all nonsense. Neither Usyk or Breidis would have punched a hole through Toney at CW. Hopkins never fought above LHW, apart from some over the limit fights when he first started out his career.
Yes they would have. Briedis was a dominant Cruiserweight champ, the weight limit at CW is 200 pounds. Toney and RJJ dominated at 160-175. Mess with the bull and get the horn. Stay in your lane.
There is zero evidence to support such an opinion. Toney had success at both CW and HW. He had more skills than Breidis. Breidis had huge success against Usyk, by fighting him up close, on the inside. Toney’s forte. Breidis isn’t significantly bigger than Toney.
Toney never beat anybody as remotely good as Usyk or Briedis. Come on man, Usyk beat Joshua FFS. Anthony Joshua would kill RJJ and Toney.
