RJJ will go down in history as better than Floyd

None of you know a god damn thing about boxing. RJJ's resume is paper thin, floyd's is solid. The quality of mayweathers opponents blow away RJJ's.

Man people are so butthurt over Floyd's success. Roy couldn't knockout a green Hopkins, couldn't decisively beat a drained Toney and got beat by Montell Griffin all in his prime.

For the Hopkins and Toney victories put him over the edge. Plus he started off at light middle then won a portion of the heavyweight title.

 

I prefer to watch Roy Jones tbh, he had true KO power also a fantastic boxer.

Its hard to compare heavier guys with guys guys who fight in and around Welter - Welter seems to have more names than 168/175.

Roy actually has a very good resume. If you don't believe me, go and look who he fought, and then see what they'd done before and after they'd fought Roy. He barely lost a round in his prime. Boxing is all about timing. It's about who you fight, but more importantly when? What were the circumstances involved? So what If Roy was younger than Floyd when he first got knocked out? What's that got to do with anything? Floyd's a 147 fighter. Let me know when Floyd moves up two weight classes after 50 fights, and then immediately comes back down 6-7 months later having had to lose 10 pounds of muscle.

He's fought on for too long, like so many before him. But you access a fighter for what they did in their prime, and consider all of the factors involved, like I've just mentioned. Floyd craves money and attention. Who's to say that he won't comeback into his 40's if he feels in shape? He could come back and lose a fight or two. I'm not suggesting that we should forget about Roy's losses, and pretend that they didn't happen, but again, you have to take everything into consideration. Look at Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Ali and Ray Leonard. They all went out on sickening defeats. If you're not going to allow for circumstances, and you're just going to compare stats, then you're going to end up with Floyd Mayweather, Rocky Marciano and Joe Calzaghe as the greatest fighters that's ever lived.

Easy work? Ha! You've just embarrassed yourself. Duran would be a nightmare for Floyd. You're also making a HUGE ASSUMPTION that Floyd would have gotten in the ring with him in the first place. I can't see Floyd acting brave while Duran threatened to kill him. If we were in the early 80's now, Floyd would be taking more vacations than Chevy Chase! :good

You've obviously never seen them fight. I suppose in your world, Floyd is a better fighter than Ray Leonard, on the basis that Ray went out badly and has 3 losses on his resume? atsch

Recognizable names, maybe. But when did he fight them? Sugar Shane couldn't beat Sergio Mora. He looked like **** against Mayorga and was losing until a last second knockout. Shane WAS a great fighter, but not when Floyd got to him. What about Oscar? He'd only fought twice in three years, and retired just 2 fights later. Marquez? What about the weight? Hatton? The list goes on. Name me one great fighter who was peak when Floyd fought him?

Floyd's won more titles at more weights? Against who? What were the circumstances involved? Stop comparing stats.

I can give you some stats.

Manny Pacquiao has won titles in 8 weight classes.

Does that make him a better fighter than Floyd, who's won titles in 5 weight classes?

Is De La Hoya better than Ray Leonard and Hearns on that basis?

Are we going to say that Floyd is better than Ali, on the basis that he's won more bets in more divisions.

You're stats are irrelevant, because you're comparing a guy who started out at 130 with a guy who started out at 154. You can't compare those stats.

It's only possible for fighters to compete in a certain number of weight classes, depending on their size etc.

Roy also could have been a 5 weight champion. The only reason he isn't, is because the CW division has been weak for a long time, and he never gave it a seconds thought when he went up to heavy.

They're both fantastic fighters! But if you think that Floyd is better with no questions asked, then I'm afraid to tell you, that you have very limited knowledge of this great sport.

 

You absolutely can not hold against Roy his losses when he is shot to ****, does anyone say Ali is not that great he lost to Berbick, Spinks, Holmes:nono
When you look great fighters, which Floyd and Roy really are i want to look at amazing things they did, somethings no one else or very few in whole history did, and i want to see how much risk they were willing to take. RJJ former MW champ won HW title i think only 4 fighters ever did that(remember in whole history of this sport). Lets agree that Ruiz is not something special well neither is Daniel Geale so why doesnt Floyd go up and and win a MW belt from him, dont try to tell me MW belt would not be great for his legacy!!!

 

He doesn't have the freakish skills of a Roy Jones but if we're talking ATG rankings no way does Roy Jones come close to Floyd Mayweather.
