Jones won't get knocked out, because Hopkins doesn't have the testicular fortitude to go for a knockout. I mean, the last person he knocked out was De La Hoya, and nobody seemed more surprised when Oscar went down than B-Hop did. Plus, Oscar took the easy way out, but thats an whole other story... Hopkins will win a painfully, painfully boring decision. If two young counterpunchers couldn't put on a show in '93, what do you think two OLD counterpunchers are going to do 17 years later?
Yea I just noticed that too. I'm actually a bit surprised he still has that hand speed. He definitely hasn't shown it in recent fights. Completely right about the legs too. A prime Jones could match foot speed with hand speed to get in land punches and get out before even being touched. Today even if he got in and let the hands fly he'd get tagged. Head movement has lost as well.
The song is Phone Tap from the firm album, from around 96-97, Dr dre is a/was a beat on the boards! But Roy jones still has a little handspeed, but you need a hell of a lot more against Bernard Hopkins, cos he takes you to the trrenches and really tests your heart, and roy's not shown any of that in years.
Ha. Look closely, and you'll see they've sped up the film. Just watch the people and things in the background. A lot of Pac's vids have the same thing going on. Either way, Jones is shot to pieces. He might be my favorite fighter of all-time, and it's sad to see him embarrassing himself this way. And **** Hopkins, too.
He's still got some speed in his hands, but like everyone has pointed out, he has nothing left in his legs. It seems as if the motivation has gone aswell, his skipping is lacklustre at best, I don't know why he is carrying on...
He always stops to pose after everything he throws, he doesn't have the fluidity he use to have until Tarver 2. If he stopped posing and tried moving his head abit more he could be a more formiddable fighter at this stage. That's what i've noticed, whenever he's uncomfortable at all in the ring he stiffens up, maybe it's some neurogically programmed reaction he's learned after his knockout losses. Against Lacy he was comfortable and looked more and more fluid as the fight went on.
