Louis is an organised and exceptional puncher with very steady pressure. If he doesn't get broken down by a cautious Lewis I see him starting to fade and getting hurt. I think Louis could finish him.

Conn, exceptional defence, great jab, iron-jaw, good flurries and his own "magical" rhtyhm. Not quite the style that would be perfect at LHW for beating Jones, but a very good start.

Fair enough, I can see all of them just wanted your take on Lewis vs Louis really.

    v Arbachakov

The top two are the hardest for me to pick, i might interpret them differently on any other day. I think Ross has a great style to exploit Trinidad but there's a size and strength advantage at 147 imo, maybe i'm wrong but i'm sticking with that. Hamed i rate very higlhy h2h at 126 in an all time sense, but regardless of his style he's overmatched in my opinion.

Ross is much better technically all round than the one dimensional Quartey, who was good technically within his own dimension.

Do you not consider the possibility that things get rough early on and Lewis gets the best of it?

Not saying it would happen - for me, it's anyone's fight, but most who pick Lennox, pick him by "breaking Louis down" - I don't see why he can't win early.

I cant believe how many people are picking Lennox Lewis to beat Joe Louis (Saying that, i am thinking of it myself). But dont forget that the Lennox Lewis from the 90s was the same Lennox who was knocked out by Oliver McCall and went the distance with Mavrovic and Holyfield twice.

Many people do think that he improved with age, but he was obviously still a bit careless from time to time, because he was later caught by Rahman. It is a good fight though, and i agree with one of the comments that Lennox if he wins might do so by landing hard and early. But he also is likely to get a bit lapse if he doesnt, and is their a worse fighter to take a breather against than joe Louis.

What about Pernell Whitaker though? I think pernell would jab canzoneri's face until it turns into hamburger beef.

Louis vs Lewis is hard to say. Lewis controlled the ring and was at times very careful, too careful. Louis will make him not be too comfortable. At the same time, Lewis is very big, great jab, with a solid offense. His chin failed him twice, but he proved he can take punches pretty well. I do feel his chin isn't great or anything, but it's not bad. I feel he got a little unlucky in those situations. Mercer troubled Lewis greatly. He jabbed with him well, and made Louis uncomfortable at times. Bruno out-jabbed Lewis at sections before his stamina failed him. Louis has a better jab than either, while he's not longer than either he has a solid jab. I wonder how Louis take Lewis shots. In all honesty, my gut feeling is Louis would lose but figure Lewis out in a rematch. Lewis was probably the smarter fighter, while Louis was the more deadly fighter. It's a real tossup.

In my opinion, Lewis is most dangerous early on. If Louis can get his jab working and get in position to punch at Lewis he will stop him. If he can't, then Louis gets countered and broking down. A real tossup. One day I'll pick Louis... the next I'll pick Lewis. I feel inclined to lean towards Lewis right now. Real interesting matching these big super-heavyweights with 200 lb HWs and seeing how rounds 10-15 go. If Louis can take it, and get in position he can match Lewis. Lewis can't out-punch, but control and dominate Louis from the inside. That's his route to victory, unless he hurts Louis and knocks him out. Louis always has a chance... very dangerous.

Armstrong is the only definite pick for the 30's.

That's a good point, but at the same time Lewis was smart against dangerous men. Tyson, Holyfield, Tua, etc. Lewis slipped against the Rahman's and McCall's of the world. I don't think he would take a lapse against a fighter like Joe Louis.
