yeah make it for the belt and make it a legit 147 fight. 1 or 2 pounds is not going to make a huge ****ing difference, its all water weight anyways.

Cotto was 160 last fight, if anything request he be 157 or under or some **** and keep it as a 147 fight which is better for Pacs legacy should he win.

Shane should have challenged Cotto to avenge his loss and for unification. I still think Cotto is the better opponent, though. His loss to Marqo is questionable.

You are right that Shane deservs the fight with PAC more and is more dangerous. But at the end of the day its an easier fight to make and less dangerous for the smaller fighter. Plus....Pac is fighting a PRIME guy in Cotto who has a "W" over Shane. So the points can be made from Arum's stand point this is the "more meaningful" fight. I again.....don't agree, but happy to see this fight as a boxing fan anyway.

A guy is never considered prime once he loses. People will say that Margo ruined him.

Of course! But that don't make it true. There are always haters, critics or detractors aiming for the top dog in any sport or high level position. Unfortunately PAC can't please everyone, but at the end of the day his "PEERS" will appreciate and know just how BIG Manny's accomplishments were. After all PAC lost early on and its clear as day his prime is right now!

This will be a good one. At one time I wondered if anyone could defeat Cotto. He's not unbeatable but he is good. He is coming off a very tough win which should help him mentally in this match. This is a really tough one to call. If I were Cotto's people I would look at the Morales and Marquez fights to try to work on things that might work for this fight. Right now Manny looks almost unbeatable at 145 or below.

Not only that but Cotto looked very vulnerable against Clottey which is part of the reason he was picked as Pac's next opponent.

It's gonna be a great fight though. FOTY 2009!

Why not make the fight at 147 then so Pac has the opportunity of picking up another belt in a higher weight class?[/QUOTE]

I agree. Never been done, 7 belts in 7 different weight classes!
That would be great for his legacy.

Manny's fights at the lower weights look obsolete already considering Pac's vast improvement in defense, footwork, power, and acquired weapons north of 135. Cotto's handlers should rather look at the Diaz, dela Hoya and Hatton fights and see how they can counterattack his vaunted weapons and strengths.

It has the potential......but unfortunately it has the potential to end very early as well, which not many fights that end within the first 5 rounds are FOTY winners. I hope it's competitive and we get A LOT of action!
