When you are challenged...as PAC was. And you aren't the same size then terms have to be negotiated at some point. PAC has to put up his P4P title. Cotto is fighting closer to his natrual wieght divison at 147 than PAC who is at 140. Bro.....its a fair fight at 145...moreso than it would be at 140 or at 147.
When they announce the decision, then we'll talk more about it. Asking the ww champ to come in at a certain weight, AND put his title on the line is cheap and you know it.
Yes I do and I had to do it the DAY OF the fight which is far worse! Cotto has 24 hours and then some to rehydrate and pack on a lot of extra pounds which will make him far bigger than Manny on fight night. No doubt loosing wieght is hard but Cotto has to do that regardless b/c he CHOOSES to fight at WW. That's his decision not PAC's.
All of a sudden all these Floydettes are coming out to discredit Pacman because he will fight again this year. Tell Floyd to quit faking that injury and fight Marquez already.
Look, we're beating a dead horse. It's ***** by Pac to shove Mosley aside and then challenge Cotto, and then ask him to come in at 145, and put his titles on the line. WW is from 141 to 147 somebody said lol. Do you see any healthy ww's coming in at 144 or 145? Hardly.
If Cotto beats PAC.....He's stock and status will RISE son. Don't get it twisted. he may not be #1...but he'll knock PAC off the top spot and he'll move up and that will open up doors for Cotto to grab the P4P title should he continue on winning. And for some.....he might just take the #1 spot. Not in my book but for some depending on how he wins. The point his beating PAC will present Cotto with FAAAAAR greater oppotunities to build his legacy and to make more $$$.
It's not possible to put the p4p title on the line. For starters it's not official. There is no belt that goes with it or a spot in the HOF for it or anything like that. And while a loss usually drops a guy from the #1 spot it almost never raises his conquerer into the spot. Taylor did not become #1 when he beat hopkins, Forrest did not become #1 when he beat Mosley, Tarver didn't become #1 when he beat Jones. And I can pretty much garantee you that Cotto will not become #1 if he beats pacquiao.
hmm says... I'm not saying Cotto will become P4P (ala Hatton). Cotto doesn't necessarily become P4P #1 if he beats Pac but most likely Pac will lose his P4P crown which is significant.. Again... Ok...you call it a ***** move. I don't call boxers "bitches" or "bums" especially at this level and with the kind of dedication and risks they take as pros. Floyd included. But I'm saying PAC and Floyd have done the same thing and based on your "definition" of a "***** move" that makes the two BEST P4P fighters in the game today pulling the exact same ****. And it's true.....the maxium you have to weigh by the weigh-in dead line is 147...cotto chose to weigh in at 146 for Josh. PAC chose to weigh in at 138 for Rick. Its a non issue brah. And most of the time its the wieghts of the fighters on FIGHT night that indicate whether or not the fighters are "healthy" at their weights. If they balloon up 15 or 20 pounds they say they didn't make weight correctly and could be hindered. If they are within a few pounds of the weight limit they usually are considered primed and ready to fight at 100%.
boxing is a business bud. and shot at the welter title would come at a price, accept it or not. i think pac's camp will do everything they can to have the title on the line for pac's seventh title in different weight classes. if cotto decides not to defend the title even if money is dangled in his face, then that's great. i'm not taking sides here bro. just stating facts. it isnt illegal to defend the title at a catchweight. economics will likely be the biggest reason is this is done or not. again, this is not the first time this happened. i dont like it one bit. i also feel that the challenger could weight whatever the hell he wants, and the champion could weigh as much as 147 as the welter limit dictates. however, boxing is not all rainbows and butterflies. sometimes things get done for cold hard cash. not to prove who the better man really is
145 seems just about right This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected looking forward to this fight!!! :bbb:bbb:happy:bbb:bbb
The thing that bothers me is that as a fan, you guys don't even care that Cotto has to put his title on the line at an agreed catch weight that Pac's camp are asking Cotto to come in at lol. It shows us fans how much you love Pac lol...
