145, 143 or 147 it doesn't change the fact this is a very good man vs a Great one in the boxing ring. PAC wins.
get the **** out of here cotto beat mosely and clottey can the great paq do that?? cotto is just as good and on november 14 he will be the better man dont play yourself
Char, people here think I don't like Pac. I bring up certain points about him, but Pac is a special fighter. I don't say that about a lot of fighters. When we discuss all time greats, I don't want anyone to say anything bad about any fighter who has that potential. Pac has that potential. Legendary status is one fight away for Pac. I don't like his promoter...Peace!
This is a great point as well. It's not like Cotto's team didn't have any input. They got the weight they suggested which is a "healthy" negotiation when BOTH sides have their input and they are able to come to a "common ground".
I believe this which is why I'm confused as to why Cotto has to come in at a weight Pac/Arum/Roach want... 145lbs is not the weight Pac/Arum/Roach want....Cotto wants that weight, so dont be confused now..:good
Cotto's nutritionist himself said Cotto can SAFELY make it to 144-145 at most, then 145 should be a sure thing that Cotto should be able accomplish without problems. On weigh-ins Cotto isn't lean as some, like Pac, he have areas where he can shave off a couple of pounds without losing muscle mass if he diets properly. People keep talking about how dropping down in weight means equivalent to weight drain. It is not. The nutritionists himself knows what Cotto's body is capable of, but if Cotto can't do it properly and end up weight drained then his problem is his training and dieting. Training and dieting is part of the fight, if you can't do it right then you already lost half the battle. Similiar is also moving up, if you don't train right and diet right, you will lost speed, won't carry up your power, as well as stamina issues. I would agree that if moving down in weight improperly, it would be more dangerous than moving up majority of the time. But remember Hatton who moved up in weight lost much of his efficiency in the right, although that is more due to his style which requires him to overpower his opponents. DLH moving to middle also was sluggish and couldn't carry his power as well as having stamina issues. So Pac has to deal with the challenge of moving up in weight as Cotto have to do the same moving down.
Manny will come in around 143 anyway, he dont mind giving away a few pounds, he likes to retain is speed and movement.
As a fighter when you lose weight, you have to do it eating the foods you usually eat when you are a fighter. You can't go from chicken to salad and be the same fighter...ask Miranda. If Cotto agrees to 145, and everything that goes in the contract, and the fight is made...I'll stop posting about this matter. I just think it's ****ed up to ask the ww champ to come in at a certain weight period.
get the **** out of here cotto beat mosely and clottey can the great paq do that?? cotto is just as good and on november 14 he will be the better man dont play yourself
Be easy cup cake. You got your panties all in a bunch. Why you bringing up the Shane vs Cotto fight. I know how it went. It was a great fight, close in nature and I scored it for Shane. I scored teh fight for Cotto in the Josh fight but again...close in natrue and could have gone either way. Can PAC beat Shane, Josh or Cotto?? Who knows, but he has a great chance to prove he can. And if I had to bet.....I'd place my money on PAC given his domination of quality foes who fell before him. But nothing in boxing is 100% and you're a fool if you think otherwise. You just play the odds like everyone else. Cotto is "just" very good at this point. He hasn't proven to be Great as PAC has. So you are playing yourself as a biased Cotto fanatic. If you don't want that title adjust your reasoning and stop cheer leading one way.
Manny started off as a flyweight, I think people should remember how far he has come up weight, whats losing 2 pounds going to do to Cotto?
I'f I'm wrong, I'm wrong maybe I forgot but did I post where I said Pac wanted Cotto to come in at 145? Post it, and Ill clarify myself. My argument is about Cotto coming in at any contracted weight below 147.
