Point is he didn't have to give JMM another rematch after the second fight. Fighting Barerra, Morales, going up 2 divisions to fight Oscar are all bigger risks than anything Floyd has done. This is proven by the fact Mayweather has never been an underdog to my knowledge( Mayweather-Corrales odds were about even).

Why should Pacquiao have even fought Marquez in the first place? A man concerned with low risk and max reward wouldn't have even fought him.

In 2004 Pacquiao gave Marquez a title shot. And nobody even knew who the hell Marquez was and he was an elite. The best of the best.

 

It's not just giving Marquez a rematch. It's fighting a prime Marquez even at all.

What sane man would fight an excellent unknown boxer-puncher like Marquez? Immediately after the Barrera fight too?

 

Exactly. Now a days it seems like, after a single tough fight, it's back to an easy gimme before looking for another tough fight. :-(

 

......and Pacquiao wouldn't have given Marquez a 3rd fight had he not run out of welterweights to fight.

You got to remember that Marquez was chosen for that third fight after Marquez looked ordinary and simply out of place at 147 lbs fighting Mayweather.
At this point they now thought Marquez was easy pickings.

Those factors and the fact there was history there between the fighters guaranteed the matchup would do big PPV numbers which it did.

The stars were aligned and the perfect opportunity to display "oh how Manny has improved since Marquez had twice beaten him previously."

Be real, team Pacquiao thought Marquez for that 3rd fight was easy pickings.

Marquez should be grateful for ever receiving a title shot in the first place from Pacquiao. Let alone 4 of them. Given the talent of Marquez and his relative obscurity and lack of popularity before fighting Pacquiao.

Look I'm a huge Marquez fan and Pac fan. But Marquez and his fans ought to at least show Pacquiao the respect he deserves for giving Marquez his chance. That was much more than Hamed could ever do.
