i remember this but the haters choose to ignore this. pac wants to fight margo then when he was still the man at welter. now they think pac is cherry-picking margarito as if he only wants to fight him now. in the first place, it was floyd who pac wants now but floyd is too afraid to step up to pac's challenge.

A good resurrection, but a few things...

This thread was created in the daylight hours of 24th January 2009. Since then the following has happened:

    • Margarito destroyed by Mosley, and exposed for being a hand-wrap cheat in the process
    • Margarito consequently goes into inactivity for over 12 months
    • Pacquiao in the mean time establishes his viability at these higher weights, by destroying Hatton, Cotto and whitewashing Clottey.
So yes, whilst this thread does prove that Pac/Marg fight isn’t the cherry-picking easy-as-cake matchup that most have made it out to be, the above factors do need to be taken into account. They prove that we've all learned a lot the past few 18 months.

But again, this is a brilliant resurrection. Because I’ve always believed this fight is a hell of a tough one for Pac.

Damn Rico....I am gonna have to disagree with you on this. Here's why: Name a fighter that is a tall, rangy fighter that does not uses his height, has NO jab, NO defense, Slow with Poor Footwork, and GETS HIT ALOT???? Antonio Margarito!!! When this fight was made...My Predicition was and still is: PACQUIAO IN 4!!!! I once created a thread titled: "IS FREDDY ROACH A GREAT TRAINER OR A GREAT MATCH-MAKER".

Manny Pacquiao has almost 60 Pro Fights. And he has NEVER fought a fighter with nearly the same level of Speed and Athleticism. Let's look at the past 3 Opponents:

Ricky Hatton - was Tailor-Made for Pacquiao Style (A Lefty Volume Puncher with Speed). Ricky had NO Defense. Please watch this Gif...Hatton Closes Space with his hands down and chin out...The exact same thing that Margarito Does:
    This content is protected

Miguel Cotto - Cotto's defense is just as bad as Hatton and Margarito but Cotto Stamina is the poorest of any Belt Holder in Boxing.

Joshua Clottey - Just doesn't let his hands go. The Best example of this, is during the Cotto fight. Cotto had a severely cut eye, and his vision of effected. You would think Clottey would let his hand go...RIGHT??? ****ing Clottey GAVE AWAY ROUNDS 11 & 12 WITH VIRTUALLY NO PUNCHES.

This fight with Margarito was made only to keep Pacquiao winning. PACQUIAO IN 4...EASY!!!!!

    :think Paul Williams?

    (Just messing :good)

Oh come on, Darryl. Tony isn't falling in 4 for nobody. Especially a little Filipino who's fighting 2 divisions above his normal weightclass. But the rest of your points I can't argue with. Pacquiao has all the tools needed to beat him.

But I don't agree that's it's going to be as easy you make out.

The One thing I have found out about fighters and "New" trainers, especially older Veteran Fighters. When the Bell rings...They always become WHO THEY WERE...And all the "New ****"...goes right out the window. And in some cases...they try to become that "New Fighter" and look totally uncomfortable. Do you know how crazy and silly Mosley looked TRYING TO BOX versus Floyd, when his entire career, he has been a Fast, Athletic Brawler.:-(

Can't teach an old dog new tricks. Margarito shouldn't attempt to do what he can't.

Nice dig. Just a year ago, these haters say Pac doesn't have a chance. Now they say Pac is cherrypicking Margo LOL.
