........Roach said his fight plan would have Pacquiao keep the fight in the center of the ring like he did against De La Hoya and use his speed and angles to get at Hatton and wear him down before hopefully taking him out in the late rounds........

That seems like the most obvious plan really Hatton wants to trap Pac and nullify him

I'd say that would be the best tactic. If Ricky can get him on the ropes and launch a body attack he has a great chance.Getting involved in a brawl would be a mistake by Manny

I'm pretty sure there is more to it, Roach's just not giving out the details.

Agreed. They'll try to do this as much as possible. But not much more than that. There's alot more to it.

Hmm Papa Roach has a habit of undermining his opponents and giving them less credit than there due, ok he got it right with de la hoya as he trainied him but to say that Pac will win easy and out work hatton is crazy considering hatton trains and perfroms at high tempo and always works his opponents and has always fought his best at this weight, Considering this is pacs true test at a higher weight Roach should be more worried about how he can nulify hattons comeforward workrate, he doesnt just hold the ring with a jab he comes forward i imagine this fight to be similar to Margarito vs cotto with hatton as margarito

Alot of soundbites at the moment. Still a long way to go before the fight.

Actually, those fighters that have allowed Hatton to get them to the ropes and then counter-punched effectively (Magee, Mayweather, Collazo) have given him the most trouble. His major asset at 140 is his strength and his ability to bully his opponents, plus his ability to close the distance (which is both excellent and highly under-rated).

I can't believe that Roach actually believes what he is saying. Hatton has a completely different style to (an old) DLH, and Pacquiao is an unknown quantity in terms of his strength and ability to counter punch and take punishment at this weight. I don't believe that Pac is stronger than Hatton, and I don't believe he can defend his body with the skill of Mayweather.

If it was that easy to keep Hatton in the center of the ring, he would already have 3 or 4 more losses on his record. Paulie was a slick operator who was planning to do exactly that, and he got pummelled. Not saying that Paulie is on the same level as Pacquiao at all, but he was a skillful and proven fighter at 140 who many thought would outbox Hatton with his handspeed and slickness. Pacquiao on the other hand, has done nothing at LWW, and nobody knows how he will take Hattons bodypunching, strengh, stamina and mauling style.

I think this is a 50/50 fight, depending mostly on how Pacquiao deals with the weight.

If that is Roach/Pacs plan A then they are in for a torrid old time. Pac will need one of these to keep Hatton in the middle of the ring for 12 rounds, and even then I don't think the batteries will last that long
