Good to see this registered with someone. Trying to keep Hatton in the center of the ring is utterly non feasible. You make an excellent point about the opponents who chose to stay locked on Hatton firing moving into the ropes. Those were unquestionably the guys that did the best work against him. Roach will surely do what he can to put Pacquiao in a position to do what can be done along those lines, but the fact remains that Pacquiao is not the least bit inclined to fall back at high speed doing anything but resetting himself or focusing entirely on defense. You're right, a Hatton sequence doesn't end where a De La Hoya sequence does. Not by a country mile. This 'plan' is more than likely just disinformation.

:lol:I've seen that myself! But that was earlier on in his career where his footwork was a bit all over the place. At this stage PAC has the footwork to instead of damn near running out of the way to get his distance, he just jabs, pivots and creates space more effectively. But I know exactly what you are talking about....that part of PACs game early on had me wondering how he was so effective being so limited with his skills. I don't see that as a problem any more...DLH was trucking forward as was Diaz, MAB and JMM and he showed where his game is presently.

I think that Hatton did fine in the center of the ring in his last fight against a quick handed southpaw, I dont see why he wouldnt do well in this fight.

Roach got under Oscars skin early because they had a working relationship way back and my belief is Oscar bit and ultimately suffered the consequences Ricky Hatton on the other hand is an entirely different proposition. Whatever the out come this fight will be superb. Im a Brit and hope the right man wins the right way

True to some extent, but if you make an examination of the tapes you'll find Manny jumping back every time De La Hoya came forward, as well as Diaz. He was jumping clean back away from David Diaz alot - and there was rarely any true need for it.. Good stuff though, charlie. We're on the same page.

I think they based their tactics on the success on Diaz and ODLH, Keeping Hatton in the center in ring would make for more efffective offense and defense. But even if he does get trap in the ropes,I doubt if Pacman wont unleash his devastating left hands if ever Hattons tries to step in and slug it out.
