By Nick Giongco Freddie Roach has a gut feeling that Miguel Cotto is not going to press the action against Manny Pacquiao but will resort to being a counter-puncher in a bid to mess up the Filipinos all-out attacking style when they meet on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas. Roachs eyes lit up when told about reports about Cotto utilizing a 24×24 ring instead of the standard 18×18 that fighters normally use in preparing for fights. Cotto will try to be a counter-puncher and be like (Juan Manuel) Marquez, Roach told Fightnews Wednesday afternoon as he was awaiting the arrival of Pacquiao at the Gerry Penalosa Boxing Gym in Mandaluyong, putting sense into reports that Cotto is indeed using an oversized ring to prepare for Pacquiao. This is Roach trying to dictate Cottos gameplan. Smart guy, and a huge reason for Pacs success at a weight, which shouldn't be possible physically. Cotto should of course do what he does best; grinding with heavy bodyshots.
makes more sense if he does manyy comes forward cotto can time him coming in with HEAVY COUNTERS :bbb
freddies a great trainer but wtf does this guy get interviewed every day? been talking trash bout Cotto everyday.....
Thats not taling trash...what Floyd does is talk trash, Roach just shows confidence in his fighters. Floyd for example none stop called Gatti a C level fighter, called delahoya a chicken, etc. Roach has never said anything ill about Cotto, just that his man will knock him out, beat him etc...thats confidence in Pac, not a knock on Cotto...never said Cotto has a glass chin, or no skills etc.
CAN WE PLEASE TAKE THE FRIGGIN MICROPHONE OUT OF HIS FACE!!!!! this has got to be one of the NOISIEST camps of all time
If Cotto could survive Margarito for tht long whilst he obviously had plastered wraps, then i don't see him having any problems with Pac.
I think Freddie realizes if he can't get in Cotto's head his fighter is in trouble. Especially if Cotto has no trouble making 145.
that's what i was thinking when i read this. do people even read anymore? Cotto will try to be a counter-puncher and be like (Juan Manuel) Marquez, ^ trash talking? (only quote from roach in the blog)
