No worries Realizm, the term argument means disagreement, which is what this is.

I agree that it is frustrating. That boxing fans indeed have missed out on potentially great and intriguing fights. But, the door of negotiation swings both ways. For years Roy jones has stated that a fight with Joe Calzaghe would be more risk than reward...hence that fight was never made. Roy Jones stated 7 years ago that he didn't need Joe Calzaghe but Joe Calzaghe needed Roy jones jr. Well, it seems that the shoe is now on the other foot, so to speak. Joe hasn't forgotten that. Now that Roy jones needs Calzaghe in order to move forward with his career, the fight is finally being made. Yes, i agree, that this fight is 7 years too late, but again it is Joe's decision at this point in his career.

If you realize that joe could easily beat Pavlik, who i personally like, why would you care if joe fights him? I know that beating a Champion in his prime would be a much bigger accomplishment, but at this point in his career, what does he have left to prove?

I don't buy the retirement idea...i personally think that if joe wipes up the floor with Jones, he will indeed fight Kelly.

Dude, you're tripping. Hopkins and Winky were about even on punch output with Winky landing slightly more and at a slightly higher percentage in between holding. I have no idea where you're getting 3 or 4 to 1 in Hopkins favor. JC outlanded Bhop 2 to 1. And pressure from a natural Lightheavy/Super Middleweight is much more difficult to handle and draining than pressure from a natural Super Welterweight.:deal

Nah, dude, you're tripping. I was referring to specific exchanges between Hopkins and Wright. Specific combos, and how Hopkins chose to respond in that fight. Here are the final figures from both matches:

Dude, get over it. Hopkins lost. Stop :|. The guy had to fake low blow to survive the fight. To take any pride from that is rather ridiculous. And you're over here trying to compare Joe Calzaghe to Winky Wright who was a small middleweight. If Hopkins could've thrown more punches that night or even won, he woul've. He couldn't and he didn't. He lost to a better man. Get over it:-(

    Total Punches

    Hopkins

    152 / 640

    Wright
    167 / 618

    _________

    Kessler
    206 / 602

    Calzaghe
    230 / 741

    ________

    Hopkins

    127 / 468

    Calzaghe
    232 / 707

Calzaghe clearly. Very clearly beat Hopkins. And the only way Bernard could have won was by KO in one of the first rounds. Thereafter there was absilutely never anything Bernard could have done.

I appreciate you trying. I have to admit that you have the thinnest case, but ok you still try. All the odds are VERY clearly agaisnt you. Calzaghe threw FAR MORE punches. Landed FAR MORE punches. MOST international observes says Joe won. Aside from the minor fact... that Joe in fact won and has a 'w' next to the fight. But, ok, either you are a massive massive Hopkins fan, or you saw some re-edited 27 second version of the fight.

Calzaghe landed "FAR" more punches. LOL, yeah, he landed punches. In general. Period. Like, at all. He landed. Punches. Right. Tell me about all these "punches." I'd like to hear about them. You know, it's funny, but nobody can seem to produce a package of clips, a highlight reel of all these "punches." Strange, you know? Odd, isn't it? I wonder why that is..

Why would one of the 'Hopkins beat Calzaghe' delusionists bother peddaling his wares in a thread started with a discussion of Hopkin's trainer's opinion of why he clearly lost?

Give it up San, even Roach doesn't agree with you!
