I think he's just old, Old and past his best days.....with that said he still gave Joe a **** load of problems and gave Joe his hardest test. Even with the workrate Joe found it hard to land and cause any true damage which he's not use to. I think Kelly will also find it a difficult fight but with his natrual Power, Kelly has that one advantage going for him.....Joe on the other hand had his speed and skills......it will be interesting what hopkins shows up for Kelly.

I agree completely, but we can do "What if's" all day. Bhop still has a chance...just not likely he'll pull this one off.

Typical American BS. Our guy lost but in his prime, during a full moon,if his shorts weren`t too big he`d have won.....................blah blah

Marg is hard to hit to the body, not b/c he is good with angles or great with his footwork but bc of those damn uppercuts he continually throws...or at least when a body puncher gets in to range.......And he'll hook off the uppercut which helps keep his oppoents hoest with that respect. Going to the body with Marg leaves your head very open which is why Paul focused on Margs head 90% of the time.

:good .....Not that Joe didn't have the talent or the skills.....but you didn't have to Read "joes book" to know he wasn't confident otherwise he would have been challenging himself and his skills against guys on his level...not fighting for years in his back yard against lower level opposition.

hopkins as ngood as he is, just can't fight at the rate he once could. so to compensate for his age, he has to limit his punches. as far as a young hopkins vs. clazaghe, imagine how a young hopkins would have jumped on calzaghe after dropping him in the first

I think Roach would know best and i think he is right. Although Calzaghe would be exhausting for any fighter, Hopkins very low work rate is due to his ever increasing cuatious style whereby he does whatever is necesary to avoid taking punishment (which could mean milking low blows or not throwing enough for fear of opening himself up). Hopkins is a smart businessman at this point: he knows that at 43 he shouldn't take much punisment to preserve his mental health, but he also knows that through his crafty style he can still be competitive with the best out there. It just sucks for the fans.

Exactly. I challenge someone to make a highlight reel of 25 calzaghe punches with even 1/32 of the amount of mustard on them that Hopkins threw in that fight. I don't even think 25 even made the mark.

1/32 of the amount. I know it sounds funny. But Calzaghe is THAT WEAK! I mean, WEAK!!!.

Afterwards when Roach was asked about the fight, he said just could'nt see where they came up with that many punches landing on Hopkins.
True, If Hopkins started walking Calzaghe down like Roach asked of him he probably would have KTFO'd Calzaghe. But lets all be honest for once. Hopkins still put enough out to win that fight.

Hopkins at this stage is a fighter that doesn’t need a trainer .Im not sure as to why he would need to tell Freddie what went wrong in his fight he's a prideful man .His goal is to come back and erase that in the same manner he did with Tarver after the two close losses to JT .

by the same token, joe c wasn't bernard's hardest test. taylor was a tougher fight for instance because he actually landed solid shots. calzaghe/hopkins was just a bad fight and there are aguments on either side for who the "winner" was but we know who the losers were: fans.

actually, if you look, nobody is saying calzaghe didnt win because he clearly outworked hopkins, even if they were slaps.

He knew Calzaghe was famous for his workrate and was afraid to get tired because Calzaghe would take him apart then. You can notice it when he knocks Calzaghe down in the 1st round, retreated after that instead of attacking.

problem is that calzaghe didn't even look like he landed 250 slaps. IMO the fight was close, but i'd give the nod to calzaghe b/c hopkins did too little for too long. no way you can see it as a 'convincing' victory for calzaghe unless you're a nuthugger

thats why he needs to retire. if you worried about getting exhausted after you knock a guy down, that should give you an indication you need to hang it up.
