I understand your point, but you gotta be real. These guys mentioned in the OP have been on the BIG STAGE. That means boxing fans, both casual and maniacs, are familiar with their names and increase the draw.
Everyone in your list, with the exception of Mosley are not even well-established fighters! Yes, they are Top Prospects, new champions, but they havent paid their dues.

Its all about the promoters matchmaking, and you can guarantee they're always looking for the biggest bang out of their bucks. Its rarely about dodgin and ducking certain opponents....

I could respect that position if Pac hadn't fought Clottey. Clottey?

I honestly don't see that many people buying a Pac/Cotto fight. It is the same thing that made FMJ back out of the FMJ/ODLH rematch. The first fight was so lopsided that the second numbers would make both men look a bit silly.

They were all belt holders. Some still are. These guys are the guys doing damage. The names to beat. How are they not "established"? They are the top guys at their weights. They need a named fighter to give them a fight. The same way ODLH "made" FMJ and Pac.

I can agree, but you don't claim P4P#1, FOTY, and FOTD then go and fight these guys. It is a joke.

  5. I wouldn't mind seeing Pacquiao-Marquez III at 135, or maybe 140. I'd much rather watch that than Pacquiao-Cotto II or Pacquiao-Margarito. The only other fight aside from Mayweather-Pacquiao I might favor over Marquez would be Pacquiao-Bradley at 140, but that doesn't seem to be an option they're even considering at this point.

Pacquiao-Marquez at 135 would potentially be for Pacquiao's 5th lineal title.

I think your getting me wrong, i dont like the fight with Cotto either. I think Cotto will be scared of his power and Manny schools him again. But of course the money will be there for it. Pac stepping up again to fight for another world title. I hate the fight, but the money is certainly there.

In a previous rely i also said that Margo doesnt deserve a shot at Manny, but the fight does interest me as its the only fight that i wouldnt think manny would be an overwelming favouraite.

As for berto, maybe im wrong but i think Manny destroys him at this stage. He didnt look particualry great in his last outing, and i would like to see him in there with SSM next.

SSM- dont get me wrong i no the guy is a warrior, but does winning 1 round against Mayweather allow him to go for another p4p king? i dont think it does.

I think I agree to some degree with everything you said. :thumbsup

I think the issue is drug testing. All of these other fighters are out of Arum's sphere of influence. Also he has already planted the seed of hate/doubt with the Mayweather camp. If he starts planting it again with the likes of other guys Manny will lose all credibility. So? He rematches guys who don't deserve it.

I guess where we differ is in our level of dislike of the Cotto, Margarito, and JMM matchups. It is just horrible to claim P4P#1, FOTY, and FOTD and then make those matchups.

If you take the time to watch the video instead of getting ahead of yourself you will hear Roach talk about fighting Cotto now he's at 154, which makes the majority of your post void.

If he's prepared to go to 154 then why not aim to fight the likes of Williams or Martinez who will do more for his resume than a past prime Cotto who he's already beat comfortably? Neither has a title but both are far more challenging than picking up another random alphabet title against someone in a fight that holds little appeal.

Holy crud d00d! You're gonna drive me crazy! Plz study your history and events before jumping all over the dang place.

As you know, Mayweather/Pacquiao1 was gonna happen, Arum secured a spot WELL in advance in the new Cowboys Stadium. Unfortunately, the Mayweather/Pacquiao deal fell through and Arum had to find a substitute for that fight so they could still continue on time with their reserved time in the Cowboys Stadium venue. Joshua Clottey was available is was the best substitution that can be made with what time left.....

Give me a break, and plz KEEP IT REAL!!!

    Good post.

This is Pac's MO. He is the P4P#1 (cherry-picker).

I'm not interested in any of the fights Roach mentioned. Cotto would get beat down by Pac again, no point in that fight. Margarito doesn't deserve it, and would also get beat down. Marquez is not at his best above 140 and seems that is not the same fighter that he was a couple years ago.
Pacquiao vs Williams is a fascinating fight, and it would generate a lot of interest and probably good money. Pac would add to his legend if he beats someone as tall as Williams, who's coming from middleweight. A fight with Bradley is the only other appealing fight to me.

Reality is though that they will say there's no money in those fight, and if Mayweater vs Pac doesn't happen, it's gonna be either Margo or Cotto.
It's all in Arum's best interest.

    Wow.

How could Arum secure a spot at Cowboy's Stadium in "advance" when the world knew Mayweather was not going to fight there because it isn't a world class venue? (You sank your fantasy scenario within the same post. :patsch) Why? I will help you understand why. He had no intention of fighting Mayweather in the first place.

Now on to this BS. There are tons of guys available now and Arum is taking the same tack, fighting guys who were recently knocked out. That tells you that this is SOP not a fluke.

good try dumbass. Most of your post is predicated on your personal biased speculation. The only thing valid is Roach mentioning some possible fights, including Cotto who has the Lt. Mid title. Your basing your reasoning that cuz their open to fight Cotto at Lt. Mid, they're prepared to storm the Lt. Mid/Sup Welt division?

Lol, more like Pac whooped Cotto's ass not too long ago, he definitely can do it AGAIN,
AND break another world title record. This is actually a great opportunity for him to do this.... what, he got a world title in SEVEN different weight divisions already?

The only thing you showed is your inability to see the big picture lol
