Leave it to the media to stir up controversy that may not really exist.

 

If anything this proves Roach genuinely believed Pac could beat ODLH at 147. If he wanted the fight only for money then it wouldnt matter if DLH was 147 or 150.

 

For those Pac fans who dont know, you should know now......
.....there will be at least a 15 lbs weight discrepancy between DLH and Pacquiao on fightnight.

I believe I heard Roach a few weeks back before the fight had been signed that Pac would come in at 145 lbs, for DLH he'll step in the ring atleast weighing 160 lbs!

 

the real controversy only begins when floyd sr. and roach begins trading verbal shots at each other. can't wait for that to happen.

 

Becouse you thought Oscar can be forced to make ~150 on fight night?

I see why Roach is so nervous, if Oscar weigh ins at 150 + that makes even bigger dissadvantage for Pac, making Oscar weigh in at 147 would atleast take some juice out of him and would give pac more chances to win atleast last rounds.

 

Obviously what is happening is that a trainer is trying to contain an already huge advantage for his fighter's opponent. How can anyone fault Roach for warning DLH to stick to the contracted weight? If anything, he is laying the very legitmate groundwork for pulling out if DLH is over, hard to see Roach really doing that but the idea is to force DLH to actually come in at 147, a weight he hasn't made in something like 7 and a half years.

One scenario of Pac winning will be sweeping rounds late by DLH fatigue and making Hoya respect the agreed upon weight could help that scenario.

That was the issue when he was @ 130... it was well documented that he was already having a hard time making weight even before his second fight with MAB, you can check out his weight in pics when he faced solis, mab and JMM he was very dry and dehydrated. That's was one of the reason why he moved up to lightweight.

You have to remember that when he faced MAB the first time he was the one who moved up in weight and was clearly the small man @ 126... and then it was also pac who moved up to 130 to face erik, you can watch their first match and there is no denying that pac was small compared to erik.

i think you have a comprehension error here. the article is talking about the hoya's weight during weight-in and not fight-night weight. or are you talking about another article?

well it's certainly clear here in the manila bulletin that roach is talking about the weight-in. roach just wants hoya to stick to the agreed weight even if hoya would pay a penalty of $3M for each pound over 147 on the weight-in day. the one you read in another paper would be a contradiction.

 

IMO Pac is just way too small for DLH, regardless of talent.
