There are many fast fisted boxers who suck ass. Speed is not everything and it obviously is not the only attribute that makes Pacquiao great, and imo reducing him down to just that is really insulting to an ATG. Roach has been with Pac for almost a decade, and still he gets disqualified because as I said earlier for some people he didn't by fate meet Pac at 16 yrs old, thus Roach is less of a trainer. You can't define all great trainers by date at which they meet their fighters. Life doesn't work that way and penalizing Roach or others by this requirement is unfair.

"By the way about Jordan. I am not a basketball expert, but the fact is we have many great basketball players now compared to when Jordan was playing"

By your definition you aren't a basketball guy, but to not acknowledge the hall of fame players of the era that Jordan came from is stupefying. And to that extent there is the argument that today's game is less than it was during the 80's/90's. But I'm not sure that's what you were saying or is it?

Is Kobe great because he is great or did his championships come because of his connection to Phil Jackson for all of them. See, this is a sticky question because anyway you take it you diminish the great aspects of one or the other, unless however it seems you and the others really don't care for Roach and you're willing to just lump him into the category you've already decided upon.

**** all this typing, the wife is going to kill me for not fixing the plumbing.

im not an expert on the NBA, you seem to know that pretty well. all im saying is Jordan would have been Jordan either way....what did phils team do the 2 years jordan left to play baseball? they didnt win after back to back to back titles. what happened when mikchael came back? back to back to back titles again.
same goes for roach....what was roachs claim to fame before getting pac man? taking over michael moorer at one point? tyson? yes they gel great together...but hes not some freaking "master" , he trains a freak... the jury is still out on him in my book. pac makes roach look like more of a genius than roach makes pac look like a complete boxer...

I think its safe to say that we won't agree, and that's cool.

You asked what the Bulls did w/o Jordan for those 1 1/2 years, no offense but it's clear that you're not a bball fiend, let alone a Chicago nut like myself. I'll just quote from Pippen's wiki page:

Michael Jordan retired before the 1994 season, and in his absence Pippen emerged from Jordan's shadow. That year, he earned All-Star Game MVP honors and led the Bulls in scoring, assists, and the entire league in steals, averaging 22.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.9 steals, 1.9 three-pointers, and 0.8 blocks per game, while shooting 49.1% from the field and a career-best 32% from the three-point line. For his efforts, he earned the first of three straight All-NBA First Team nods, and finished third in the MVP voting. The Bulls finished the season with 55 wins, only two less than the year before.

They had some trouble adapting in 95 especially admist rumors of MJ returning and the huge gap that Horace Grant left after leaving the team. They still made the playoffs when MJ finally came back. The key to those 2 years was the "system" that was in place. The team was a well oiled machine even w/o Jordan.

As for Roach, I don't know if he's as great as Dundee or Steward or any of the other greats right now, but I will say that in my book he gets respect for being pretty damn good.

Oh here we go again! :patsch

Amir Khan is 22 years of age. He has had 23 fights. He is still learning, he hasn't even reached his peak yet. Go and look at other boxers records, and you tell me just who the **** they were fighting for their first 30 or so fights. Nobodies. People you haven't heard of, why should he get put in with a top 10 fighter if he is still so young? Just what the **** is your logic behind that one? :huh

Because that hype job is being sold as a quality top 10 fighter.

And let me remind you, the dude holds a World title belt, a paper belt mind you, but he cannot be considered a champion without fighting quality opposition. Otherwise Chavez Jr deserves a belt already for fighting bums.

Give the kid a break he's still young and I am sure he will have fights to deserve that belt. Plus its not like he's a bad fighter he has the makings of a great, especially if he either can get a really strong defense or work on his chin. These fights are in his early career and yeah he many not necessarily deserve the belt but is it a travesty that he has it no.

    fair enough.
but obviously bottom line was the bulls only won titles when jordan was there. regardless of how good they were when he left....they did not win 1 title without him on the field.....
as for roach, yes,the guy is a world class trainer, no doubt...but the idiots on this board who call him "god like" and a "genius" is blowing it way out of porportion. theres been 50 guys you have never heard of that hes walked to the ring with and got their ass handed to them enough times to where the LEGEND didnt seem to help them fly to the top or get over a hump.
he couldnt keep michael moorer motivated, nor mike tyson...and when he trained dlh, he came up short.....roach is a very good trainer with a GREAT GREAT fighter
