What was David Diaz then? Quote's on the last paragraph on this page: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7919619.stm There's also a video of a Hatton/Pac press conference in London today.
To a certain degree Malignaggi was a handpicked opponent. But he was no 2 in the division(maybe wrongly so).
Yeah, he may have been handpicked but Roach is in no position to point that out as Diaz was handpicked as well.
You can't handpick a consensus number 1 challenger in the division. Malignaggi would be about 50 P4P spots above Diaz.
what a hypocrit roach is, david diaz was the worst champion at 135 and yet they pick him and dont touch the division again after it, then they accuse hatton of handpicking malignaggi when the other champions arent any better, what a load of BS
agree with the 1st statement but 50 p4p places above diaz...whoa there!! id like to see diaz vs malignaggi as i think it would be a decent fight
Funny that because before the fight it was the other way round.. Hindsights a wonderful thing ain't it?
The hell you can't. Hatton wouldn't fight Mayweather when he was the no.1 contender at 140. He wouldn't fight Witter when he was the no.1 contender. I doubt Hatton would fight Bradley. Paulie didn't deserve to be ranked that high. Hatton only fought him because he was a decent name that posed no threat to him. Hatton didn't give two shits about how high Paulie was ranked by ring magazine.
Every fight, someone makes an argument for both fighters no matter how big of a mismatch it is. Hatton was an overwhelming favorite. Most were picking Hatton. I personally made several posts about how much of a mismatch that fight was.
just like kostya tszyu was against hatton, and jeff lacy vs calzaghe, jermain taylor vs kelly pavlik, come on evrey1 starts saying this stuff after the fight, loads of fighters have fought great in one fight and won and then lost there next fight with a crap performance. Anything can happen in boxing so dont start saying that it was this big of a miss match
