That's bull****. Plenty of people, including myself, pointed out that he was a one handed fighter before that fight.

Neither did i.... I remember lots about how Hatton was too easy to hit, Hatton was too slow, Hatton was on the slide, Hatton was one dimensional, Paulie was going to box Hattons head off ect...

 

Diaz was the weakest champ at 135. This is something that is done all the time. Example; PBF wins 140 WBC from Gatti. Paulie was going to do what to Hatton. Whether Paulie was ranked number two or not, wait a minute, Paulie was the IBF champ. Yes, I know he was stripped just before the fight. When has Paulie shined? He struggled I believe in both of his title fights and then he fights Hatton. A decent American, Brooklyn fighter who Hatton could make a statement with and he did. Not bias, just opinion.

 

And who would you have preferred he fight?

I can't even believe I'm defending Hatton right now.

I don't mind Roach, who is a fantastic coach, trainer, corner man etc, wanting some credit for a fight but I really think that is far too much! "We're just too quick". No! Pac might well be far too quick but with all due respect, my grandad is faster that Fred!

 

There are many fighters he could have chosen. Torres is one. Wait, your possibly getting at who was availble, not who he could have chosen. Witter is out of the picture due to hate from Hatton. Well now, Paulie was the biggest draw available at the time and name I guess. Paulie by no means was the best at 140. You would have him over Torres, Holt, Bradley, Witter, Bailey, Herman who it could have gone either way. I know I am missing other names.

 

You're not missing names. Torres and Holt are garbage. Period. Neither have the chin nor the ability to compete at the levels of Malignaggi, Bradley and Witter. Witter and Bradley had just fought if I believe so, Malignaggi was the best option. Not to mention after his last performance and his failure against Mayweather, many had Paulie pegged to outbox Hatton.

I do remember some of those posts, but I remember a majority of posters saying he would beat Paulie. To be honest, it was not a fight to remember like Diaz vs Marquez. Hatton is the best at 140 and has ben reigning champ for how long at that weight class? Until someone beats him, he is the best there and will be an ATG just for being the best for so long at that weight class.

 

Well then by what you've just said Paulie was the biggest fight available for Hatton... so how is it being disputed that he was handpicked?

 

:nono naw, herman won IMO. he was the aggressor throughout the fight landing the more effective blows and even had paulie on ***** st.
paulie fought to survive and barely did.

paulies best performance is & will always be losing to cotto. afterwards it was winning the title against n'dou.

since he won the title, its been nothing but powder puff promises about how great his next performance would be along with more hand issues/excuses.

many fans including myself were waiting and antisipating for the paulie that fought cotto to show but never did.

btw, i picked hatton by UD over paulie

 

Witter, Holt, Torres, and Bradley are all definately better than Paulie. Ortiz and Peterson would beat Paulie, but they're still unproven at this point.

I agree with Witter and Bradley, but they were scheduled or had just fought. Witter's loss would have kept him from the bout anyways.

And Ortiz and Peterson would be too green.

And who does that leave as the best available opponent? Handpicking implies that you have many options but take the easiest. Not true in this case.
