Roach: Margarito has terrible footwork, could walk into Pac's punches

Whilst i agree margarito is slow, his footwork isnt so bad as he cuts rings off very well imo.

Christ, anyone who avidly watches boxing knows he's got awful footwork.... nevermind alot of other awfuls.....

his only selling point ever, is his durability. But Mosley showed how to overcome that too, by the classic method - chop down the trunk

Freddie you didn't seem to point this out when everybody was calling it a terrible fight for Manny. Well anyways betting Margos footwork to win the fight, I say pressure, tough chin, and the physical strength and power advantage.

Feels like Roach is going too far. Good thing Margarito is slower than ever, in decline. Current event. Roach is right. Margarito might as well be slowly gliding across the ring like a living phantom from some Scooby Doo cartoon thirsty for counter punches. He's a moving punching bag at this point. Pacquiao is going to hit him cleanly with hard punches at an abhorrent rate.

I totally agree with you. His foot work is very good for what he tries to do. He wants to press the situation. It is very hard to get away from him because he cuts the ring off so well. You are forced to exchange whether you want to or not.

Margs not fast but he is very effective and sets traps. He is one of the very best pressure fighters in the game and his woodwork gives him the ability to close gaps and pin you on the ropes...

What people don't want to realize is Margarito is also awkward as ****.

seriously though...poor footwork usually leads to a guy on the canvas and often times due to the fact that poor footwork = poor balance for the most part. just b/c a guy is a straight ahead fighter who takes shots doesnt mean his footwork is ****...if it were that would mean he's off balance and out of position when he throws and would be on the canvas w/ a balance shot/counter. see gamboa. gamboa has awful footwork which leads to him being out of position and off balance when he throws which leads to him constantly on the canvas from balance shots.
