    $$$

They pay per pound. Mayweather had to pay 600+k to Marquez for coming overweight...

I at least anticipate Cotto making a sound effort to make the weight. He is a professional... Also- he wasn't in 140 too long ago... he's still young. he can make the weight!

The actual reason why there was a catchweight is simply Pac is not a 147 poubnder but rather a 140 fighter. People look to much into the Hoya fight where it happened at 147, which was the weight that Hoya can go lowest in order for the fight to happen.

In the Hatton fight, he weighed in at 138 for the 140 fight, while in the Hoya fight, he was 142.

The contracted weight was actually more than fair for Cotto because he just have to move 1 pound from his last weigh-in weight while Pac has to gain weight of about 7 pounds from his last weigh-in weight.Even Cotto stated that in just 15 minutes from the time he weighed-in against clottey, he could easily fit into the 145.

Now the fight has been signed, and training has started for it,why go over it time and time again. Weigh in over the agreed limit and its extra money. Its not like anyone is going to pull out of the fight is it?.......but he could just make Cotto take off the weight if he so chooses.

Anyway it just may be that Roach's training with the pacman has settled his nerves and perhaps re affirmed his deep faith in the Pacman. :D

If Pac wins this fight impressively he will be favorite over Void, but Void wants to fight a flyweight next, then Christy Martin.

I am sick and tired of ignorant posters like you who does not know the difference between and weigh-in weights and a weight gain after weigh-in. Why don't you go together with EZE and learn human physilogy as well as boxing terminologies. Bring with you Nallege and MIP the idiots.

You want me to educate your ignorant gray mater!

Just because Cotto comes in at 160 during fight time that he is a middleweight fighter, because that is the post weigh-in weight of Cotto. In the Mayweather-JMM fight, Mayweather nobviously is not anywhere less than 155 (most likely around 158) but that does not mean he belongs to that weight category.

Next time try to comprehend first before writing anything. It is easy to check weigh-in weights. Mayweather came in at 150 against Hoya if you want to know, but only EZE knows Mays weight gain after the weigh-ins - not more than 152, a ready-made answer. Against JMM - not more than 152! Against Hatton -not more than 152.

FYI, weight gains after the weigh-in are not official as governing bodies do not do it and the weighing scales being used are not the same as the one used during weigh-in (usually, the HBO or the promotional companies do it or in Mayweather's case, they just announce it), which leads to the question of standardization. Only IBF does post-weighin weights with no more than 10 pounds weight gain allowed.

If Pac is a 147 pounder as well, so it would also dehydrate Pac.

Try to analyse things or take their weights where they are comforatble. Pac is at 140, while Cotto is at 147 (147 aginst Margarito, 147 againstGomez, 146 against Clottye, 145 against Judah). Which is nearer to their weghts, Cotto or Pac. Pac camne at at 138 aginst Hatton, 142 against Hoya (for those stupid posters who does not know weigh-in weights, these are weigh-in weights).

Roach is there to protect his fighter (Pac is good but he is not superman and there is a certain limit where a fighter can jump weights)and the fact that they are fighting a fighter who actually weighs like a middleweight at fight time as compared to Pac probably at most at 152.

What I do not understand is why GBP allowed Mayweather to bully his way with the weights. Even at the contracted weight of 144, JMM is aleready severely handicapped,Mayweather not even attempting to lose that 2 pounds is unfathomable. It is as if they sold out their fighter. I will not be amazed if there is a promotional benefits that GBP promotion gets in future Mayweather fights.

pac can fight cotto at 147 with no problems whatsoever the fight set at 145 is just roach, pac and company playing mind-games and getting a million per pound if cotto doesn't play along with it.

    pure genius. lolz!
