Watch the documentary, I believe it's still on Youtube if you can't download it. "Assault in the Ring", would give you a better image of how dangerous this can be.

For me it is hard to know how evil an act Margarito committed, without having a good idea of just how loaded his gloves were.

    Not all loadings are equal.

So that is why I don't dispute his suspension, but can't be enthused to jump on the bandwagon to burn him at the stake.

I want to see him and Cotto fight again, and hopefully Cotto wins.

I can understand that. But I think to a degree, if you're going to load your gloves, you're not going to hold back out of the kindness of your heart and rather do as much as you think you can get away with, but it is hard to dispute the suspension when you aren't sure exactly what happened. I doubt we're ever going to know for sure. I actually picked Margo to win the Cotto fight the first time around and I think he'd probably win again by outlasting him. Although I think Cotto is defnitely the better fighter, the durability of Margo makes up for it, probably. Although, how can we say if we don't know about his previous victory over him? I wonder if maybe Margo's granite didn't crack against Mosley, finally. We may never know that either, if he doesn't get licensed.

What happened to his loaded plaster of paris wraps?

Were they confiscated by a sporting/boxing commission official?

I would think if they had the wraps with the plaster on it, they should be able to recreate the "loading" as such, and give people a better idea of just how bad it was, but there has been no suggestion of this that I have heard about.

I would love to know more about this.

It would be interesting if the Boxing Officials could hold something similar in technical nature to South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission, whereby Margarito gets his licence back if he tells the full and unblemished truth about what happened, so everyone can know all the details.

He never said otherwise about Margarito. When Margarito asked to be trained he said he might consider it then publicly announced, way before this video, that he won't be supporting a cheater who deserves more than one year. There are reports of him saying he believes Margarito is innocent published by liars which he immediately denied once they announced them.

well he does have trouble making his mind up. Not taht there's anything wrong with that. I can't blame him because I would probably have a hard time making my mind up on something like that too.

Thats the problem with these boxing commisions.....if they can get away with it, they make nothing clear.

The last report on the lab results for Margarito's confiscated knuckle pads was that it contained elements in it that were consistent with some of the elements that make up plaster.......

......it just so happens that those same elements are also contained in thinkgs such as hand and facial creams.

Why the hell the CSAC could'nt clear this whole mess up by stating how much of the plaster elements we're in Margarito's wraps, in comparison to how much of those same elements are in hardened Plaster, is beyond me.

What I do know is that there has been no criminal charges thrown on Margarito......and that was something the the California district attorney before the lab results actually came in had said they might pursue.

Why have no criminal charges been thrown at Margarito??

Is it because the ratio of the elements found in Margarito's wraps was'nt enough to harden and cause serious damage beyond what a normal wrap would cause?????

If the CSAC was sure that Margarito's intent was to walk into that ring with fully hardened wraps, you would think they would have given Margarito more than a one year suspension.

I'm starting to get the feeling that the evidence was so shady to begin with even coming from California's own testing labs, that they have just left it at that and will eventually just have to give Margarito his license.

At this point the CSAC is probably just stalling for time and waiting for Margarito to apply for a licence with them.
They'll stall it for as long as they can to make it look like they're a commision that examins things and are to be reckoned with.

He should be banned for life. Anyone who thinks a temporary ban is enough supports the corruption of boxing and is not a true fan of the sport.

He could have killed his opponent for **** sake. I'll never pay for any card he is on again and I hope others follow suit. Fans have to take a stand against this before it become acceptable.

he makes an interesting point about the cotto/margo fight is that cotto was doing good and then he just got severly worn down......and that is the difference between that fight and the Paccman fight because cotto was doing better in the beginning of the margo fight and came out looking smashed and the pacman fight he was taking fast shots early on and not as dominant and came out how he would have expected to have come out after that beating

Well, read these and see if you still feel the lotion defense is still valid.......

These are links to the disciplinary and sentencing hearing for Margarito. Check them out.

    A few excerpts.........

License inspector Mike Bray was called to testify and to reiterate what was found on the hand wraps–which he said looked “moist and dirty looking.

Recalling what he saw when summoned to the dressing room and first seeing the wrap,

“I immediately retrieved it. I believe it was an illegal pad–it needed to be confiscated. I observed what appeared to be a bloodstain. It was not new and their was a white substance smeared across the knuckles. It was hard to the touch–like Plaster of Paris.”- Mike Bray, License Inspector

It was stated that there was more arguing from Capetillo and Richardson in the dressing room. When Lohuis walked in he saw the tape was too far back on the wrists and told them take it off and in both English and Spanish, trying to calm them down as the wraps were removed again. Having over 25 years experience he said he’s supervised over 20,000 fights. When questioned if he still believed the hand wraps were indeed illegal he stated firmly,

“No doubt then, no doubt now. The wraps I found had the knuckle pad altered in some form. They were hard. I didn’t think twice when I pulled them out as illegal.” - Dean Lohuis, Chief Inspector
