Marquez made Pacquiao look ordinary and Morales *beat* him.

Yeah, I think that both would take issue with classifying Pacquiao as being in the "elite" class...

First, I highly doubt Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Maruqez would disagree...
Second, whoever thinks Manny Pacquiao (the pound for pound number one fighter in the world) isn't elite should really just stop talking about boxing, or at the very least look up the definition of elite and try to understand how the definition applies to Manny, it's not hard at all.

How is Pacquiao an elite level fighter when, A) he isn't even the best guy in his division, B) isn't P4P #1, C) refuses to fight the P4P #1 guy despite the fact that he's in Pacquiao's weight class, D) his last 6 opponents were coming off loses [most by KO], E) is a protected fighter, F) has been outboxed on at least *3* seperate occasions and G) is one dimensional?

Does that sound like an elite level fighter to you?

    No.

    Oh dear God...
Not only are most of your points flat out lies...
even if they were true, just because he's not the very best, doesn't mean he isn't elite. If Mayweather were to fight Pacquiao and beat him that would be one of his biggest victories. (I use Floyd because I assume you view him as an elite fighter). An elite fighter doesn't get credit for one of his biggest wins if it isn't against another elite fighter, if his oppononet wasn't elite they would dissmiss it by saying he was just at another level.

Marquez and Morales are also elite (Morales more so when he faced Pacquiao) Their fights are split like this: With Morales Pacquiao has one competitive loss and two clear victories. Against Marquez a draw and a split decision victory. It doesn't matter if you think he lost them all (even the ones in which he stopped Morales) the fact that he was at the same level with these elite fighters makes him also an elite fighter.

Why do people make this mistaken notion that because Marquez gives Pac a hard night it would mean Mayweather would too?
Outside of the 2 being counterpunchers they fight nothing alike.

The reason Marquez gives Pac nightmares is because hes a high volume counterpuncher that throws lots of combinations and throws when Pac throws.

Mayweather while brilliant is a single shot, low volume puncher that dodges/blocks and then counters he rarely throws while his opponant throws because that would leave him open.

Marquez just knows how to deal with Pacman, unless Mayweather doubles his punch output, starts throwing lots of combinations and takes high risks it doesn't say anything on how Pac vs Mayweather would turn out.

Just saying Pac has difficulty with right handed counters is the most dumb way of looking at it.

*Also Pac made much easier work with DLH,Hatton and Mosely, so because he struggled with the 1 fighter that fights nothing alike Mayweather it means he will struggle.
This type of logic is just completely beyond me.

You're right, they are both different types of counter punchers. The lone fact that Floyd's a counter puncher doesn't either mean that he gives Pac fits, or that he struggles with him. But Floyd's size, strenght, speed, ring intelligence, conditioning and accuracy make him a very dangerous opponent for Pac. Marquez just has a style that gives Manny problems because like you said he keeps up with Pac's volume punches, but he also counters him, isn't afraid to mix it up and throws off Manny with his jab and movement.

I think they both give him trouble, but each with their individual different set of strenghts. :good

Mayweather is also brilliant @ taking away your best weapon. Pacquaio will stop throwing that reckless left hand after tasting some hard counter right hands. Once the left hand has been neutralized, what is Pacquaio gonna do? Outbox Floyd?

    No.

    A) he isn't even the best guy in his division, He is the best guy in the division. The only other fighter that some people believe might be better is Floyd Mayweather jr. but he doesn't want to fight Pacquiao unless he takes special tests... Pacquiao has now "agreed" to these tests so the fight might happen... but until proven other wise he's the man the division, if Floyd would have never left it would have been the other way around.

    B) isn't P4P #1, He is the #1 p4p fighter. When Floyd retired he left the sport and p4p rankings. His supreme skills bring him back at #2, but if the #1 guy is at your division you need to fight him to take his spot. Again, if Floyd would have never left it would have been the other way around and the pressure on Pac to take the tests would be much bigger.

    C) refuses to fight the P4P #1 guy despite the fact that he's in Pacquiao's weight class, And of course you have these backwards... Manny is the number one p4p fighter in the world. When Floyd made his return he had to fight Manny, but instead chose to demand intrusive tests that made Pacquiao (the man with the #1 spot) turn away from the fight, and when Pac accepted them he went on vacation and denied negociations ever took place

    D) his last 6 opponents were coming off loses [most by KO], Mosley was coming off a draw and has never been stopped, Margarito was coming off a win, Joshua Clottey was coming of a Split Decision loss to Miguel Cotto (the fight it self reflects why it was a split decision as most fans argue over who deserved the nod on a competitive fight and are actually split on who actually won the fight [although officially it was Cotto]), Miguel Cotto was coming off a win over Clottey in what should have been considered a unification match, Hatton was coming off a victory over then champ Paulie Maliggnaggi, and ODLH was coming off a win over Steve Forbes. Not one of them was coming off a knock out loss and the only one with a loss was Clottey in a fight a lot of people thought he deserved to win

    E) is a protected fighter, I really don't see how. There's not one fighter in his division (or 140) that would be considered the favorite over him. The second best fighter in his division has been avoiding a fight with him.

    F) has been outboxed on at least *3* seperate occasions and... Irrelevant at this point because he's proved to be the better fighter than all of those who could claim to have out boxed him. If you're reffering to Erik Morales, Pacquiao redeemed himself from that (his last loss) with two knock out vitories and if you're also reffering to Marquez Pacquiao gave him a second chance but he still edged him after earning a controversial draw in their first fight (and is currently lined up to face him again).

    G) is one dimensional? He's not one dimensional at all, he gives angles like no other boxer around today and is probably the best puncher (not hardest) in the sport, he knows how, when and where to punch, hardly the attributes of a one dimensional fighter.

    A) Your recollection of the sequence of events is WAY off. Cotto Margaritio was contested for the vacant WW title and the #1 spot @ the weight. Margarito KO's Cotto and becomes the #1 WW in the world. Mosley blasts Margarito inside of 9 to then become the #1 WW in the world and is subsequently beaten by Mayweather. You *******s have NO GROUNDS WHATSOEVER to rate Pacroid above Mayweather @ 147lbs. Stop smoking crack.

    B) Like I said, Pacroid isn't even the best guy in his divsion and there is a wide gulf between him and the #1 guy.

    C) Take the test and Pacroid gets his ass handed to him. All he has to do is sign the contract. That hasn't happened yet. Why is that?

    D) You recollection of the sequence of events is WAY off. Mosley was coming off of a one sided beatdown as was Margarito. Clottey was coming off of a SD loss, Hatton had just been KO'd and so had Cotto. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.

    E) Pacroid is so protected that it's almost profane. Fighting guys coming off of BRUTAL KO losses who all manage to just stand right in front of him and let Pacroid tee-off as if he were Tiger Woods. Disgusting.

    F) Irrelevant only in the eyes of Pacroid jizz-gulpers. Your hero has been *outboxed* and the last time wasn't all that long ago.

I agree that Mayweather gives Pac problems or that its possible that he beats him.
But not by the logic that because Marquez gives him problems Mayweather will too because hes a counterpuncher.

Thats the most narrowminder dumb way of thinking about it imho.

Under that same logic Pac beats Mayweather because he beat more common opponents much easier.
That logic also does not work.

So yeah i agree with you, if they give him problems its on their own strength because they fight nothing alike.
