it could work just as long as pac doesn't get hit by a flush left hook. pac does have the ability though to slip and block left hand punches as evidence with his fights w/ marquez and diaz. pac actually has a problem w/ very skilled orthodox boxers w/ very good right hands. luckily for him, this isn't the case with dlh.

Thats the thing, Oscar can make fighters appear awkward, because a lot of the time you react off the the right hand when your facing an orthodox fighter, especially if you get buzzed. You move away from the power hand, but this is opposite with Oscar because his power hand is still his left, and he is so good with it. His left isn't only good because its powerful, its also very accurate and hard to time.

Imagine being in the ring against that. You get cracked by a very stiff jab, and your natural reaction is to look out for the cross behind it. But the left hook comes and you think your ready for it, WHAM! It ends up hitting you with the sort of power you expect from a loaded left hook, when he just threw the left hook off a jab..

Its not an easy thing to deal with, not something that is very common in even the most powerful punchers.

Top it off, Oscar tends to use the right cross to set up the left hand. Essentially he still fights like a southpaw, his right hand really doesn't have a lot of power, but it's obviously going to be better than enough to put you off balance if you try and ignore it.

I would be very, very, very surprised if De la Hoya doesn't win this relatively easily.

Pacquiao himself said he can't fight at 147 after the Diaz fight. He was asked what the future holds and he said he could fight at 135 or 140, then the interviewer said "how about 147? could you fight there?" and Pacquiao said something like "no, no not at 147" whilst laughing at the suggestion.......

I think this will end up looking about as fair as Trinidad Jones did.

Taking DLH's jab in the face while moving forward isn't a fun thing for welterweights. I don't think Pac will like it much either.

exactly, people have to remember that hoya hasnt fought at WW for a long time so nobody knows for sure how his body reacts in the ring. I for one think that manny can be effectivce at 147.

Holds no water whatsoever. Barrera landed punches on Pacquiao, even though he was destroyed. Oscar is too big and to big of a puncher at 147 to allow someone of Manny's size to impose his will for 3 minutes of every round.

Still, if this is the real gameplan, we're in for one hell of a fight. I just hope it's competitive for at least 6 rounds, so it is a great spectacle.
