agreed. in 2004 pac was fighting at 126 in 2004 rios was 135 in 2003 pac was the IBF super bantamweight champion i dont buy into pac fighting or picking on a smaller fighter either
Rios keeps saying he wants to see how far he can push his body and how much he can take. One things for sure, he'll find out in this fight.
This is going to be a bloodbath. And of course *******s are excited in the potential for Manny to look impressive again.
Ortiz is 1-1-3 against top 10 level opposition careerwise, with the only win coming at a catchweight. Rios is 5-1, if you count Abril as a loss. That's the main difference, one guy is a winner, the other guy not,
I love Rios but he's tailor made for Pac. A come forward guy who's there to be hit. Pac wins this fight going away. I have only limited interest in this fight.
Rios is the type of guy Pac eats for lunch. This fight will be a cruel joke one in which a young guy like Rios will probably never be the same after. Shame on Top Rank or trying to give us this fight.
Rios is a much, much easier fight for them. No idea what he's done to deserve a fight with Pacquiao, especially after the Abril debacle. Will enjoy seeing him having the **** beaten out of him though.
Rios comes in around 155. That's what he weighed against Peterson back down at LW. He's bigger than Pac. What weight this is being fought at is irrelevant here.
I get your point, but, rankings don't mean jack nowadays. Ortiz wasn't ranked anywhere at WW when he walked into a title shot against Berto, yet that didn't stop him from beating him at a time when some were even accusing Berto of picking on a smaller opponent . Like someone in a previous post has already said, Rios is being picked off the same shelf that Ortiz was taken from. We know this (regardless of what those stupid rankings say), which is why many at the time were even picking Rios to **** him [Ortiz] up if they ever met. Seriously, all of them -- Rios, Ortiz, Khan (who was being walked into a shot against Mayweather at one point), Maidana, Alexander, Garcia, Matthysse etc -- they're all close pick-'em fights against one another, because they all at a similar level. So apart from JMM, Cotto and maybe Bradley, there aren't many decent level of opponents for him to pick. Edit: But I agree it is a **** fight compared to the obvious one we all want. But we should all know by now that that won't ever happen.
i dont know how much of a threat rios can produce to pacquiao. pac fights at a higher weight class. but, it sure would be a fun fight to watch. i just wish this fight was at 140. pac is a beast at 140
