MANILA, Philippines – Hall-of-Famer Freddie Roach believes undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is capable of knocking out Miguel Cotto when they face off on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Roach told Boxing Scene that Cotto is in

and that Mayweather has a good chance of stopping him.
    :scaredas:

"I think Cotto's been declining ever since (Antonio) Margarito beat him up so badly," Roach said, referring to Cotto's 11th round technical knockout defeat to Margarito in July 2008.:blood

"He's really a bit on the downside at this point. I think Mayweather may even stop Miguel now," Roach added.:yikes

Cotto has not lost since falling to Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao via a 12th round TKO in November 2009. He moved up to light middleweight and relled off three straight victories, winning the WBA light middleweight title along the way.

His most recent victory was a 10th round knockout of Margarito in a revenge match.

But Roach believes Mayweather will be too good for Cotto when they meet.:deal

"The speed and the boxing ability will be a big difference," he said.

"may" is the key word. and it's no secret Cotto has declined since his WW days. It's just that Roach is a great trainer that Cotto seems to haveva revival.

    You lack critical thinking skills.

Roach said Mayweather declined as well, so perhaps, he thinks Mayweather declined more than Cotto.

Additionally, Roach now trains Cotto, so maybe he feels he's taught Cotto new skills that he can use against a declining Mayweather.

Pedro Diaz and Emmanual Steward have worked with Cotto.

Pedro Diaz had Cotto boxing well against Margarito and Floyd.

Emmanuel Steward is a hall of fame trainer.
