Looking back, those fighters he fought may seem like no hopers or bums now, compared to the fighters he has faced in the past 6 years, but during that time, (mid 1990s-early 2000s) it was just about a 50-50 fight. That was his level at the time. They were not mismatches on paper at the time. He just happened to keep on improving, and the fighters he had faced just stagnated, or deteriorated. Or retired.

How will he be able to pull it off, against a fighter like Hatton?

I do not know, and I'm not going to bluff my way out of this and say I'm a boxing expert. So I'm leaving all the strategies/tactics to Roach and his assistants. I also want to see what they have planned for Hatton.

I'm just sure that Manny lands punches easier on brawlers than fighters who fight defensively. He wont knock them out with one shot of course, but he'll land his fair share of solid punches.

Hatton will still be the same Hatton come fight night. There maybe slight change in his fighting style in the 1st and 2nd round. but the same version will show up in the end.

The Hatton that destroyed 'The Magic Man' in his last fight was not the same Ricky that faced Mayweather and Lazcano. His game had much improved and it showed.

If Hatton chose to box Manny, then as we notice Manny's previous opponents, they all lose..But Manny has always have difficulty in dirty fighters who brawls and pressure him..Just like Hussein hussein and Sanchez..So I think old Hatton has a better chance..IMHO...

Do you think Pacquiao can win if he never gets the opportunity to come forward?

I think both trainers should shut the **** up and stop trying to be celebrities, i get sick of hearing Roach, just trying to listen to him to get through a sentance is annoying.

Bring on the fight though, I think its gonna be real war. :happy

The man always has proved me wrong. I can honestly say that ever since I've followed his fights, there were probably only less than 10 fights of his where I personally thought that he would win easily, or he'll be the big favorite.

He finds a way to win. He's a lucky little devil.

Heck, just recently, I had a bet with my little brother that he'll lose against Oscar last December. (although I still was rooting for him, I didnt think he would pull it off)

The little ******* brother of mine won an advanced christmas spending cash from me.

I wanna see how he will be able to beat Hatton.

Honestly fellas in the heat of battle, fighters will resort to doing what they know best. If Hatton feels momentum shifting he'll just resort back to being the "old" Ricky Hatton. It's like when Arturo Gatti would box for two rounds and then suddenly say "yeah **** this ****" and go back to brawling and being wild.

Fighters resort to their instincts and Hatton's instinct will be to brawl n maul. If he starts losing early, expect that side of him to come out again.

I know what you mean. He's Mr. Intangible. I can see him winning too of course.

For me though; Pacquiao, somehow, has to do it coming forward. Roach knows they can explode on Hatton all day. Only problem is; Hatton closes the distance at high speed. Manny isn't naturally inclined to deal with that very well - which leads me back to the beginning. In other words; the only problem is; Manny.

    horse ****.

no disrespect to paulie but his powder puff ass didnt stand a chance at hurting or even containing hattons aggression. yeah ricky showed some signs of improvement but lets not over it now. no pop = no respect and even the old ricky could have steamrolled princess paulie. EASILY.

I've seen video clips of them (local news and HBO 24/7) practicing on throwing short, compact counter hooks as his opponent is charging in (left & right hand) and those punches look like in the inside/mid fighting range.

They'll probably use a bit more of that, and a bit less of his signature jab-straights.

Hatton's game hadn't improved that much against Malignaggi, I feel many are going overboard.

What Floyd did successfully was to get Hatton to fight in the way that he did in his WBU days..... see the Ray Oliveira fight for the best example of the way he fought against Paulie (though Tackie and Phillips were better displays) - plus using his jab and right hand.

From the Castillo fight onwards he became too much in love with his heavy left hand.... not sure why because his straight right his hard to pick up.

He was also helped by an opponent who seemed to be constantly setting him up for the checkhook all night long, seemingly unable to put any space between himself and Hatton throughout the fight, which was over as a contest in the 2nd round.

I still can't pick a winner from this fight.... ask me in a week or two!

agreed. thats why i haven't bothered voting. ricky hatton's gonna beat pac, and i dont think old or new has anything to do with it to be honest. floyd sr may take credit for ricky's win saying he's made him a better fighter but he aint changed him, just made a few adjustments here and there on what he see's as bad habits. if floyd sr wants to change hatton in any way he should be working on stopping the **** being such a fat, **** head between fights!
