If this idea goes through, the 10% that PAC and DLH are disagreeing over will be negotiated with thier fists. Apparently Freddie Roach came up with this idea that may breathe new life into negotiations for the fight.

    From ESPN's Dan Rafael

    Roach on being moneyhungry:
Although Roach has been pushing the fight since Pacquiao annihilated David Diaz to win a lightweight title June 28, he said it irritates him that people think he's only doing so because he would also be in line for a huge payday.

But Roach has an answer for those critics.

"I've gotten some flak from people who say I am only doing this for the money," he said. "But I will train Manny for free if we lose. If we lose, Manny doesn't have to pay me a dime, that's how confident I am that we beat De La Hoya.

    The idea:
It goes like this: De La Hoya gets 60 percent and Pacquiao gets 30 percent. Let them fight for the other 10 percent with the winner ending up with what he wanted.

"I think Manny and Oscar like to gamble a little bit," Roach said, referring to their well-known enjoyment of wagering. "I love that idea. Just give the extra percentage to the winner of the fight.
"Let's make this a real prize fight. The winner gets the 10 percent. That draws interest in the fight and shows that these guys really want to fight each other. People love when something is on the line. Let's put something on the line. I know both guys like to gamble."

It should go without saying that Arum and Schaffer have still been in contact frequently about making this fight which they think makes sense to everybody involved.

I agree this could be fuel to the fire for two intense competitors that might push this fight to be made.

A great idea and not just for this fight, I could see it happening all the time. Call it "The performance based incentive".

F*ckin' A man...Roach is still chompin' at the bit to get his piece, huh...???

Pacman should not even consider this. Roach's loyalty and obedience to Manny's Team has been less than stellar to say the least through this whole situation. Publicly bashing plans to fight Soto, disagreeing loudly with the course Pac chooses for himself...amid negotiations at that.

...Anyone who gives a **** about the fighter would not encourage he take this type of a prize split against Oscar...remember Felilx Sturm...??? Oscar can manipulate the judges, and if he won't just give Pac the money now...he's not going to allow the judges to do so.

    F*ck Freddie Roach.

    It's Zab.

And it's always about the money. That always comes first regardless of what anyone says but I think it's reasonable to say that Roach has Manny's best interests at heart.

I think Roach is cashing out on Pac. Roach and Oscar probably have a plan that Oscar will pay Roach behind the door if Pac lose. The game here is to get Pac to sign the contract. Roach know he's getting paid that's why he's stating that he doesn't want a penny if Pac lose. Come on, we all know Pac is going to get his Azz kick if he fight Oscar. Oscar is going to walk him down because he love smaller fight that come straight at him.
