The same double standard your talking about can be said in Mayweather defense.

Mayweather been off for 2 years, he comes back and doesnt fight Pac straight away, everyone says he SCARED. But in reality it a smart move on his part, he gets a chance to fight someone with a name at a lower risk while getting his rust off in the process preparing himself for a potential mega fight.

Cherry Picking? Didn't Marquez call out Mayweather?

Didn't Pac fight Marquez twice already?

roach has some good points but he is underestimating floyds ability to fight on the inside

    big time

everyone seems to do this, floyd doesnt like to do it but that doesnt mean he isnt good at it

Roach knows what he's doing. The man is talking smack as an attempt to hint that this is a fight they ARE aiming for and very soon, that's all he's doing. They know Mayweather would be their toughest opponent depending how he performs against Marquez next.

Marquez is "cherry"?, DLH and Hatton too?

If so then aren't those opponents Pac fought?, both are cherry pickers then.

I see it pretty much the same way.:good

I would think the toughest thing about Pacman fighting Mayweather could be in actually catching up to him if Floyd chooses to keep his distance in an effort to frustrate and force some errors out of Pacman that he can expose.

In the Ricky Hatton fight it took Floyd about 4-5 rounds before he started to get comfortable in there with him....(does anyone see that the same way?)

I dont think Manny will give Floyd the same luxury. A fight will start from the opening bell, and Floyd will be expecting it and Manny will be bringing it. Roach is putting it out there that the fight is open to negotiations so i dont think hes talking smack as much as getting the attention of the team they are willing to do battle with after the Cotto fight..

Roach has a different story every other day. Of course they are talking Floyd because they are both signed to fight other fighters. Before it was signed they were sticking to that 70-30 bull****, once the fight with JMM was signed and sealed all of a sudden Arum comes out with the 50/50 stuff...Anyone that cant see that is blind.

Roach said that Mayweather would be the toughest fight for Pac on ESPN..He said that he knew that Floyd would force Manny to walk to him and look to counter..Roach knows that its going to be a tough fight, and people also forget that Roach wanted Pac to take a soft touch, he said that manny is fighting too many tough fights in a row and its hard to keep winning...I bet it will be the first thing out of his mouth should Cotto beat his butt. Roach is a guy that talks out of both sides of his mouth then people claim that he was right, but he is also wrong...

EXAMPLE he has said I want Floyd NOW, and floyd will be the toughest fight. So no matter what happens in the end he can say If pac were to fight and beat Floyd, I know it was time for that fight, or if Pac fights and loses to Floyd he can say, I knew it would be the toughest fight. Roach needs to pick a road and travel it.

Agreed with most of your points, and I"ll add that its more than possible that Roach is setting up a scenario by opening up his big mouth to give himself credit just in case JMM pulls the upset, Roach will come out and say, "see, I told you Mayweather was small and fragile, Manny would have done worst to Mayweather than Marquez did".........

At first Roach was saying that Mayweather would beat Marquez, but now he still is picking Mayweather, but is covering his bases in the case that JMM pulls the upset by saying, "I would'nt be shocked in the least that Marquez beats Mayweather."

In essence, Roach is pulling a Manny Steward....riding the fence and whatever happens at the end say, "thats exactly how I thought it would happen."

Roach is just saying how he sees things from one day to the next.Nothing is set in stone when all he says is just casual talk. I can see how Fighting Floyd could be seen as hard on the one hand and easy on the other.... Take the Hatton fight with Floyd for instance....Hatton was in that fight for the 1st 4-5 rounds or so.....then it was really all Floyd after that.

    BUT....

Seeing the weakness that so a called limited, one dimensional, straight line pressure fighter by the name of Hatton exposed in Floyds armour for a brief period is exactly the stuff that Roach clearly saw too, and that must be factored into the reason for saying things can go either way.....easy... hard....if your guy follows a plan based on wise counsel then the fight should be easy.....easy meaning his boy wont end up punching thin air and make it into a tougher fight than it needs to be.

The winning of any fight has as much to do with the skillful trainer preparing his fighter for the right style of battle as it does in the picking of an opponent like Cotto or Mosely or Floyd or Hatton or....do you get my drift??

I think if i wanted my boy to fight someone in particular, and really wanted to encourage them to take the fight with us,well i would publicly say how tough the other guy was and how it will be a hard task for my boy etc...... knowing all the while that there are simple ways of winning a seemingly hard fight. :deal

Yeah, I am picking JMM in this fight because other than the issues of ring rustiness, brittle hands and soft rib cage, Floyd is inferior in workrate and power departments assuming that Marquez will be able to carry his power up to WW level.

There is never a better person in ESB who could concoct such theories. It has been proven time and time again with your spectacular "conspiracy theories" regarding JMM, his management, and who to blame for a time he was languishing fighting the likes of Salido, Jaca, etc.

You would have a good career probably as fiction writer.

Roach wants to see Pac fight Mayweather cause its the biggest payday.

You listed the reasons why Pac would beat the **** out of Mayweather, apart from Pac just being an overall better fighter on top of it.
