That is the job of the trainer.

It is amazing how many idiots are castigating Roach for this. Try to put it in this perspective, if you were the boxer and your trainer would do nothing about your opponents's known history for intentionally foul-hitting, is it okay for you?

Idiots! That is why you are a keyboard warrior and not a trainer. This is tantamount to not checking Margarito's handwarp before the fight!!!!!

What do you expect from the resident idiot of ESB. Cotto low-blowing Margarito? it must be in the rematch fight yet to happen.

That is what you bring to the table for emphasis.

Ask for a disqualification on nthe first offense which obviously you would never get but you will definitely make the ref be conscious or aware that incidences of repeated low blows really needs stiffer penalty.

Thats what it really comes down too......
.....there are alot of shots that are going to be on the beltline (legal shots) that a fighter like Cotto consistently exploits.....

.....Roach's mission in his campaign for an automatic disqualification, is to lend credence when he verbally objects to the referee for those shots on the beltline....
Roach throughout the fight will be yelling they're low, and the referee is going to feel the pressure of being forwarned.....and likely call legit shots on the beltline, low.

This trainer/fighter manipulation happened with Roy Jones vs John Ruiz.......
......from the moment the fight was signed, Jones threatened the commision and referee that he and his team would go as far to cause a riot if Ruiz were allowed to employ his clinch an grab antics to rough him up....

....so much did Jones voice his concerns about Ruiz' grabbing and clinching, that referee Jay Nady was heard throughout the fight verbally telling Ruiz not to hold.

.....if as much as Ruiz got close enough where he felt Ruiz might go for a clinch, you could hear Nady instructing, "ahh, ahh, watch the clinching."

.....more than a few times Ruiz had cornered Jones on the ropes, and without a clinch having taken place, Nady was there to seperate the fighters to take it to center ring......

I'm not one that supports John Ruiz' exessive clinching, but what Nady did that night was ridiculous.......he essentially and literally made sure that the fight be fought where it conveniently suited Roy Jones (at center ring).....and made sure not to allow Ruiz to employ any tactics that could disrupt Jones rhythm......

Imagine a referee that would'nt allow Joe Frazier to rest his head and shoulders on Ali's chest to work Ali's body????
Joe Frazier would have been lost out there.

Freddie Roach is at it to make sure his fighter gets preferential treatment......and if history is any indicator, it just might work for him!:nut

and if Miguel Cotto enters the ring with more than one leg, it's an automatic disqualification.

Give it a ****ing rest, Roach.

Roach doesn't sound too confident on his fight plan by coming up with such ridiculous statements

I (partially) agree with you on Jones vs Ruiz, but there is a difference between wanting the referee to stop legal infighting from happening, and wanting the referee to stop illegal low blows from happening.

It's a good move by Roach and these things happen more often. When Golota is fighting, the referee is always asked to watch any kind of foul..... headbutts with Holyfield, Hopkins, etc...

Roach is trying to limit Cotto's punches to the body. He knows that Cotto will attack Pac's body without mercy.
