I hope this fight happens at 140lbs....I would be really disappointed in Pac if he makes JMM go up to 147 to fight him.

If I'm Richard Shafaer, I'd take Roach up on his offer and say, "I've consulted with JMM, and he's fine with the fight being at 147 lbs with full random blood and urine testing up to the day of the fight."

I'd mortage my house and bet that Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao would decline the offer.:deal

Roach has been saying for months that Pacquiao's a welter and that any fight with Marquez would only happen at 147 lbs.


Team Pacquiao does not want to risk anything. They know already that Marquez in on the decline, but they also know that stylistically, Marquez has Pacquiao's number.

When Pacquiao fights the bigger guys like Margarito, he needs to be light because he needs to use his feet to move out of harms way......being so speedy of foot is'nt a necessity against JMM.

.....against Marquez, I have no doubt that Pacquiao would climb the scales at his highest weight ever.

If I'm Pacquiao I'd bulk up for Marquez, tip the scales at 147 lbs, and climb the ring in the low 150's......

At this point in their careers, Pacquiao at 150 lbs is still faster than Marquez at 140 lbs.

Pacquiao in the ring in the low 150's is quicker, faster, and stronger than Marquez........you add to that that Marquez stamina will suffer the higher the weight he goes, and add to that that he'd be now punching at a heavier Pacquiao........
.......and thats the type of advantage that undeniably is what coach Roach is looking for.

 

Shafaer actually said it on behalf of every fighter of GBP.
......but he said it because he wants to box Pacquiao into accepting the fight with Mayweather with full random drug testing.

I'm certain that Shafaer did not consult everyone of his fighters about this, and it probably includes not consulting with JMM about it.
