There is a precedent for this stretching back many many years. I'm glad Roach is putting his foot down because I feel that the Cotto fight is pointless-- damaged good/poor style matchup against Pacman.

    The WW limit is 147.

    141-147 is a welterweight fight.

The title should be on the line. Imo.

Wrong. Limit means up to that weight. Limit don't mean up to a catchweight right? Catchweight of Cotto vs Pacquiao is just a welterweight fight. It doesn't say welterweight "limit"

If Pac and CockRoach want the title then Cotto SHOULD be able to come in at 147 if he wishes, Pac can come in at 135 for all anyone cares, but Cotto should be able to fight at the 147 limit.

Wrong, i'm a big Pac fan, but if he wants the Welterweight title, then there should be nothing in the contract about having to weigh in at 145. It's as easy decision as it gets.

It's up to cotto if he wants too. It would be nice if it's a title fight but i don't care if it isn't. It's still gonna be a 12 round fight so we can expect a lot of action. I'm just excited this fight is happening.

Seriously disagree with the 'Cotto is spent' bit.

If they fight at 147 and Pac wins, it greatly raises the quality of his legacy.

Delahoya fought at the wrong weight and Hatton was never a great boxer.

But Cotto is a legit champ. His only loss requires an asterix and a footnote regarding Marg's handwrapping practices.

If Pac pulls this off, his greatness can be disputed by none.

    que?

Limit means up to that weight. 145 is within the limit of 147. Therefore its a limit within another limit. Are you dense?

Look if Cotto wants the payday then put the title on the line. otherwise fight Berto or something and make peanuts while Mosley gets the payday. I wonder if Mosley would put his title on the line???

    2 questions for you.

    1. Do you think that a 145 pound Miguel Cotto is exactly the same fighter as a 147 pound Miguel Cotto.

    2. If your answer to question # 1 is yes then don't you think that Manny and Roach are being way too bitchy in dwelling on something irrelevant.

If your answer to question # 1 is no then why do you think that Manny should get the title for fighting a guy that clearly didn't have his full welterweight potential?

I'm assuming no one held a gun to his head and made him sign a contract to fight at 145.
