How does he develop into a better fighter by fighting Morales who, at this stage in his life, offers no challenge or resistance? This is a cowardly move and shouldn't be accepted. You develop by challenging yourself, any athlete knows that.

well he's also wants to fight Marquez, so that should count for something too

and fighting Kotelnik was a challenge as well

Mosley Cotto was close and I had Shane winning by 2 rounds. But yeah shane would be too drained at 140 to beat Pac. It would be like DLH-Pac all over again

Khan loses to anyone who can punch. I pray Morales stays retired. But then again I would will him to beat Khan if he took the fight. I hate the hype surrounding Khan

I dont see anything wrong as to what Roach said?

Of course he doenst want to Khan to fight Maidana, its high risk and high reward.

As for Morales, ya'll need to understand that these 2 have beef with each other and Roach already knows Morales style. Its low risk and good reward for him.

Maidana is the wrong fighter for Khan.

Planning on fighting Morales isn't a challenge. If you are the champion, fight like it and fight all comers. Just because he is Roach trained doesn't make it right.

as much as it is a ***** move to tell his fighter to dump the belt...maybe he's just keeping his boxer's interests at heart. He's not ready for Maidana. nor will he ever be.

I think he's compensating for all the bad match ups and low prize money he had when he was still fighting.

He probably wants all of his fighters to get the best match up possible, for the best money possible, and a match up that would positively affect the fighter's ongoing career.

He's trying to give them what he never really had when he was still a boxer.

What does he need to bring aside from his game? Khan is a rising star but he isn't a Ricky Hatton, not yet anyway. To totally dismiss Maidana as a potential opponent because he does not have a solid following, it is done by promoters and the boxer's camp, not fans. Khan needs these kinds of fights if he is to amount to something.

I can understand Roach looking out for his ward. Here's what I think, if JMM is not available then Maidana should be in the list of Khan's next opponents. Not Morales please. If they are going that way it would be way better to get David Diaz at this point.

What a ****ing joke the Khan camp is. Line up the Maidana fight and get KTFO like you know is your destiny.

    "From this month's boxing monthly".

I don't consider him a coward either, to be clear. I'm just saying that there's an interesting and disturbing shift in fan perceptions if this sort of thing is seen as "smart". A champion used to be seen as someone ready for all comers. Now throwing away a title rather than face a challange is seen as reasonable by some. Big change.

And that's what makes Khan's camp a joke. This **** wouldn't have happened just a few years back. Today it's becoming more commonplace. It's a disgrace to the sport.

We all know how its going to pan out.

    Fight -

Morales, 2009 (small past it legend)
    G. Rees, 2010 (tiny former champion)
Casaymayour, 2010 (small past it champ)
    H. Soto, 2010 (tiny good champ)
    R. Hatton 2011 vacant welterweight belt (past it former champ)
Oscar De La Hoya 2011 vacant light-middlweight belt (past if former legend)

In boxing its so easy to pick and choose whilst pulling the wool over the CASUAL fan.

Hold on a second dear friend - Maidana isnt anything special in the first place......what people are getting at is that they wont take this fight becuase it low reward/high risk.

Fighting the legend barrera when he is way past it and 2 divisions above his normal stomping grounds dosent actually hold water in one theory. Also did u see the fight......bar that cut eye......Amir who is far bigger would have had to settle for a points victory hardly impressive.
