Roach Will try To Get Andre Berto For Pacquiao Sparring

Er, you think its a pride issue? Wtf. Its a perfect opportunity to study upclose a potential opponent whose the #1 p4p, and to gauge your own level without the pressure of a real fight and drama.

I just don't see the timelines fitting all that well. Berto fights Mosley at the end of Jan. Win, lose or draw, he will need some time to recover. Feb. is a short month, but I guess he could go in mid-feb, and get a few weeks in. It all sounds bogus to me though.

 

Roach should get Lamont Peterson.

 

When have you ever heard of fighter sparring a week or two after fighting? When have you ever heard of a champion agreeing to be another fighter's sparring partner when they don't even have a fight coming up? Think about this as well, if Pac wins, he'll probably retire. Berto's best chance of getting a megafight would be to beat Mosley, and then hope that Mayweather wins. With this being said, helping Pac to win would screw him over. It's a moot point anyway, as he won't be physically ready to spar with Pacquiao even if by some small chance that he would be willing to reduce himself to being a sparring partner even though he would be a unified champ.

 

It does seem a bit far fetched considering Berto will have just completed what figures to be the toughest fight of his career against Mosley and then subject himself to a quick turn around for sparring purposes.He likely won't even have a next opponent lined up to prepare for so he would be sparring pretty much just to get some work in and to help out Pac.

 

Good technical boxer? not at all. He has no defensive skills and he telegraphs his punches.

Well You say Berto no chance as a sparring partner as Pac aint getting a world Champion to be a sparring partner well last time i checked his already got Amir Khan Signed up as a sparring partner for the Mayweather fight and correct me if im wrong but isent Amir Khan the WBA Light Welterweight Champion of the world and one of the best young fighters in the world !

 

Berto is friends with Pac. He was hanging out in his dressing room after Cotto wide eyed and smiling ear to ear. If Pac asked, I doubt he wouldn't help a brother out.

Berto's defense or foot work is no where near as good as PBF's.

I know this but I can think of a much better choice for Pac than Berto.

 

Good sparring is a vital part of preparation, but I sense that no matter who Pacquaio spars, it will not come close to the real thing!

If Manny thniks he's going to land the same like he did against Cotto then he's in for a shock! Pacquiao will need to think more in this fight than in any of the past!
