This is it really. Once he got rattled by ruiz a.js decision mak9ng completely went to pot. He was unable to stick to basic instruction from McCracken. Tbh a.j didn't seem right even before the first bell and if that was the case, what was to follow with the knockdowns added fuel to the fire .
When you become such a specialist? Did you ever step into the ring ? Going to the body to the smaller fighter really? So he counter and took your head really ? Great tactician you are.Tired of specialist .... Klitschko was cleaning the divison with that jab 1-2 combination, but NO that was wrong and would not working. Don`t make me laugh. All the advice Rob give to Joshua was the right ones. Absolutely all. I have downloaded the fight and listen very carefully what Rob said to Joshua in the corner and you can hear all the advice he give to Joshua and if you know even a little bit of boxing you will understand that it was the right ones.
Joshua didn`t know where he was b ut this guys are blaming Rob for telling him to stick to the tactic that always work with big vs small guys. Just listen what nonsenses these specialist give. Go to the body, lower your guard(cause that`s happen when you go to the body and you are open to counter) and eat counter punches all night. This just shows how little knowledge of boxing some people have. Going to the body would do zero benefit for Joshua in this fight, except will get KOed earlier.
This, I wouldn't go the body with a counter puncher, your gonna get hooked to shyte, keep it long McCracken style, he couldn't though, he wouldn't even throw a consistant jab
I don't think I can remember Joshua ever throwing a meaningful body shot. It's just not in his repertoire.
Use your reach advantage, keep him on the end of your jab. If he gets inside tie him up/lean down on him ala Klitschko. Not rocket science. Not sure what else the corner could have done. He blew it in the third chasing the fight and then had his brains scrambled and couldn't have told you his own name the rest of the fight.
Calm yourself down fella. So you are telling me Fury wouldn't attack the body of Ruiz? According to how black and white you think boxing is, the taller man never goes to the body against a smaller fighter? Obviously going to the body against a smaller counter puncher is dangerous but it isn't plain and simple as you just don't do it. It is all about how you set the shot up, feints jabs to the body, lower the guard and then go upstairs when the opportunity presents itself - for example exactly what AJ done to Povetkin. Ruiz is dangerous but he isn't exactly as spiteful counter puncher as some are making out - you cant just neglect the body and aim at his high guard for 12 rounds.
Dude you are talking nonsenses. This is not a sparring in the neighborhood club. Going to the body would not help Joshua even a bit, and he try it a few times and was countered. Every time when Joshua was trying to exchange and hit Ruiz with the right hand, Ruiz just step in, close the distance and land of his own, but in a combination inside and Joshua suffers. And Fury can`t be compare with Joshua. Fury guard is down, but he rely on footwork and reflexes, unlike Joshua. Even people here told you. I know some fans or whathever they are fan or haters want to find a guilty man for Joshua defeat, but his coach surely is not. If he was i would be the first to blame him. I do believe the coach in modern sport are very, very important and they have huge contribution to a fighter success. But as you see also in this situation, no one mention them when the fighter is winning, but they start mention them when the fighter is losing and start searching blame in them, which is not fair. For me will be wrong for Joshua to leave Rob. And for god sake Johnathon Banks is as bad as it can get. Atleast for a fighter like Joshua. He was all wrong for Klitschko and contribue big for his decline after Manny past away. Klitschko really f**** with the choice of trainer. Rob McCracken keep Joshua on the ground and he usually is listen to him. He is good in tactical aproach. Just look at Povetkin fight and how Joshua was able to adapt. It was also due to the corner. The problem in this fight is Joshua didn`t listen, simply because his head wasn`t on place. He have concussion after the left hook in the ear in the 3 round. But the whole time Rob gives Joshua the right advice. boglemcneep said it perfectly: "Use your reach advantage, keep him on the end of your jab. If he gets inside tie him up/lean down on him ala Klitschko. Not rocket science." Joshua needs to do that for 3 rounds for example, Ruiz will get tired and frustrated will start swinging wildly and will be open for the right hand to go to sleep. Joshua have to understand he can`t KTFO every fighter out there. Some guys are tough and will last his combos, like Ruiz did and they will strike back. For that you need a plan B. Ruiz is all wrong for go with all you i will land and he will go down, yeah but we see that wasn`t the case. As i said before Wilder win over Dominic Breazeale played huge part in the Joshua try to KO him at all cost. They said it before the match, that Joshua needs to look really good and there was obviously a preasure on Joshua to finish the fight quick, so he make good impression after Wilder KO1. People tend to forget about that. That was one of the reason Joshua was not following the gameplan. As we see Rob doesn`t care if Joshua will KO in the third or in the 10. He wants Joshua to not get too open.
I think a big part of why rob was repeatedly telling to use the 1-2 was to try and get aj back on the front foot to take center of the ring look aj can not box off the back foot look how awful he looked last night lazily popping out the jab Joshua has no sense of full range he’s better at mid range and to certain degree close range (even though defensively at close range he’s shocking). Rob was trying to get him to pump out an authoritative jab to try and dissuade Ruiz from coming forward so much and backing him down but how the fight played out was the opposite even Ruiz said to his trainer he don’t like them double jabs. Aj did try to jab to the body early but it was so half hearted everything was half hearted to be honest he fought with no balls. 100% agree on the feints and breaking down Ruiz though mate. But when things aren’t going right in the ring sometimes it is best to just go back to the basics and build from there get back on the jab set up the right hand get more active I do think that was what mcracken was trying to get through to aj in there build the base back after getting beaten up in the third.
Remember Furys advice 3/4 year ago to AJ about not resting blame on people around him and making his own choices. Yeah that.
Also terrible choices of sparring partners. Fighters that don’t test him like Fraser Clarke who’s a good amateur but won’t test AJ. Meanwhile Fury spars people like Joe Joyce.
I was critical of this but then thought perhaps RMc was just being pragmatic and drilling the shots his fighter would actually throw. Pointless seeing trainers getting their guys rattling off 30 punch drills when come fight night they never throw more than 1-2’s. Fury for example paws with his jab all night, leans away and smothers yet on the pads with BD he looks like Mayweather. If he changes trainer, I can see AJ switching to Jonathan Banks with Klitschko as an adviser. Failing that he might ask Roach again what he could do for him as a fighter?
