In the whole Wilder duck saga..... Hearn has been getting it from all angles but AJ and McCraken remain silent ... I remember McCraken talking about deciding when was right time to fight Vlad etc ..they dont want it ...yet
Yeah, he seems to hide in the shadows, only pops his head out after a win at a press conference and slides back off in to the shadows again. Maybe that's the way he is and likes it, but I believe it would be nice to hear his comments on the recent goings on and the subject of Wilder.
I think McCraken is probably one of the most honest trainers around and just doesn’t get involved in the politics at all because he’s not interested in that side of things.
He`s just a trainer, AJ is more than ready for Wilder, what about Breland? Does he have a say whether Wilder signs to fight AJ also?
This guy is one of the reasons we didn't get Joshua-Wilder this year, with Hearn being the other. Watch the IFL Vids and Joshua publicly saying on a Sky interview in 2017, he was instructed by the likes of him to fight Wilder in 2019. Mccracken also said they only fought Klitschko because of his age and they thought he'd be a pensioner. They won't fight Wilder until they see Wilder's Right Hand degrading. It's not Joshua and never has been, it's people like them who would hold the Wilder fight off until 2020 if it meant we didn't see two prime boxers go at it
In a more recent interview AJ has said he would take away Wilder`s right hand by going to the body, McCraken would have taught him that, his boxing IQ is very astute.
Yeah he does, maybe it sounded like I was digging him out, I wasn't LOL in this day and age trainers are normally front and centre. In fairness to him, he wasn't that vocal when he was with Froch either, well I don't remember him being very vocal anyway. Yeah LOL Hearn has probably gagged him somewhat if some of those sparring stories are true about Okolie and others giving AJ the wobbles.
True, I agree, but like I said, these days with social media and all types of interviews trainers are normally right there also. It would be interesting to hear from him and his thoughts on a Wilder fight, I'd rather hear from a trainer talking about tactics, training, what improvements they are working on and things like that and what he thinks of Wilder and how he rates him than Eddie Hearn banging on about "splits", "what they have built" and "Shirley Winkle".
"He's just a trainer" lol. Yeah, he only has decades of experience observing and prepping world class fighters for bouts, what would he know and input into the biggest fight of the biggest star in British boxing? It's not as if Matchroom and AJ take anything he says regarding potential opposition seriously, after all what would he know? It's not as if he stands to gain anything by AJ's continued success is it? Ohhh hang on. Fk me some of you are either kids, naive or both.
I don`t think promoters care what trainers think, they use moves that keep them in the big time, they judge fighters by reputation and how much money the fight will make.
You have to make a distinction between level of fighters being promoted and of course the calibre of promoter though. Sure, they're not going to give a toss about what the trainer of A.Journeyman thinks, or indeed B.Contender. Whole different ball game when you have a fighter like AJ on your books whose entire reputation and legacy is built around not having a loss.
