Joshua isn't in his prime. Hes had 21 fights and is CLEARLY still learning on the job. Was Wlad prime vs Carlos Monroe? Was Lewis prime vs Mike Dixon? Just because Joshua has overachieved and almost unified the division in 21 fights dont confuse that with being "prime" His last fight he used a totally different style which they CLEARLY haven't perfected yet. Wilder has been pro for 10 years had 40 fights, is 32 and IS in his prime. Joshua probably wont hit his prime until he's had 28-30 fights, while Wilders team know hes only going to get worse from here which is why THEY desperatley want the fight now. Because itd be the BEST deontay vs a guy who hasn't reached his peak yet. Because in 18 months its only going to be a harder fight for them. Facts.
Ive got no doubt Rob told them don't fight Deontay yet. Wait 18 months, let Wilder reach 34 and start losing that bit of pace and stamina Let Joshua get more experience and improve as a fighter Knock out Wilder in 18 months and become the first ever 4 belt undisputed champ. And hes right.
Rob mc gets about 10% to train A J and thats his job and they will prepare for who ever is put in front of them Hearn gets a lot more money to take the flack No trainer should be expected to carry the can on anything that is not related to the job of training
I do agree with that, however you as a boxing fan should be demanding Joshua-Wilder now ? Irrespective of who it suits more at this time. Joshua has a huge muscular frame, Klitschko somehow managed to last until he's 42. I don't think Joshua will be able to do the same, this is his peak. Joshua look Vunerable when he uses that Klitschko Jab and Right Hand style.
E Exactly he said nothing!! He's not exactly going to shout it out from the rooftops is he? I don't think it's just his advice. However i fully understand it, Wilder will only go slower, less confidence, take more punches which in turn will allow Rob to find more chinks in his armour
Joshuas prime will be age 30-34 and he will be done by 36-37 It's not just his size but the fact hes already facing elite opposition. I wouldn't mind the fight now but I think if it happens in April that'll be more like both guys being nearer their primes. Joshua has JUST fought another unbeaten champion in a unification. Im not going to spit the dummy if he has 1 or even 2 fights before facing wilder.
Thats the risk they all take sometimes it pays off sometimes it dont . Look at the time and money trainers have wasted on that fool Bronner
Judt listening to toe2toe podcast and Hearn claims it was McCraken who spoke to AJ and stay away from fighting in USA as i suspected ....
I don't know why anyone would think Hearn would be calling the shots. Hearn only gives the options to AJ and then it's up to him.
Hearn has also started the 'narrative' of how Whyte if he wins deserves a crack at AJ at Wembley !!! HE is so easy to predict
lolz, I think you'll find they both work out what fights and when offer maximum profitability for lowest risk and contribute to the AJ brand in the short and long term. AJ won't even speak out of turn without Eddie's approval. Re-matches with Whyte, Parker and Takam are most definitely on the cards before he even considers Wilder as they all fit the above criteria nicely to the casual fan, who make up 80% of AJ's revenue.
