well guys Palmer is still banned but I got word from him via covert means and here is what he had to say!

Barker's team wanted to pull him out 3 weeks ago but he refused. finally the pain got to much and he was forced out on monday. he needs hip surgery. he is genuinely injured and gutted.

had said he will vacate european and let macklin fight for it if he is guaranteed the shot when he returns but macklins team will not agree to it at the moment.

Hope he gets well soon. I felt he did really want this fight and am glad that there is still a possibility of it happening. It's a silver lining at least.

That should be what happens. Barker should vacate. Macklin should fight a decent available opponent for the vacant (would rather it weren't Belchingham as that would mean 2 in a row for him) title and then Barker should get first shot at it.

I've already asked the question to his people.

But he's away in germany sparring Rhodes's opponent so it looks v unlikely!

Proksa was convinced though back at his last fight that barker would pull out!

Yeah but there's a bit of history with proksa barker.

I'm a big fan of barker and by the sounds of it the injury is very genuine.

I just hope it happens in the future.

heard about this two weeks ago, posted.....mocked lol

Barker has been out of this fight for along time but he wanted it so bad he carried on. he made warren & dean powell fully aware 2 weeks ago. he had a 1/4 of total ticket sales so they wanted to give him every chance to continue. has offered to vacate if he is guaranteed the shot at Macklin but Macklins team are not so sure, I think they have eliminators lined up. Cannot see the fight happening.

Here is the current EBU rankings. if we see the Macklin fight for the vacant title it will be one of those in bold.

    MIDDLEWEIGHTS(up to 72,574 kg)
    * Champ: Darren BARKER (GB) * Chall: Matthew MACKLIN (GB)
    Contenders:
    1. Mahir ORAL (DE/LV)

Spada wouldn't be a bad opponent at all. He hits hard and could make it an epic. i had him a few rounds up vs Zbik, I think he well and truly exposed him
