I thought Smith edged it, that is my preference. In a couple of rounds Simpson was winning on work rate, then Smith hurt him, once to the body and acouple of times to the head a bit later. Simpson himself landed some good shots, but nothing that really rang his bell. What also needs to be looked at is the 'cuts' rule, if its from a foul you should not be able to win from it. Simpson also got away with hitting on the break etc, home town bias possibly ? I would favour Smith to win a rematch more conclusively, possibly stopping Simpson.

look I don't agree with that article, Simpson was robbed but it had nothing to do with nationality but smart @rse comments trying to sum up our nation don't do you any favours.

It was hardly a robbery, it was so close, it easily could have gone either way.

116 112 is biased scoring man .Majority had Simpson with 2 points .This judge should have been from a neutral country man

I had Simpson winning, but there were a lot of close rounds and the action was really scrapy. 116-112 is not an inconceivable scorecard for that fight. If Lewis scores one of those close Smith rounds for Simpson instead he'd come out with a 115-113 card, and no one would really complain. That's all it takes, a two point swing in one round and there is no controversy.

The article is just worded wrong. How can you have a robbery in a close fight which could have gone either way?

I had it to John but even though it was close I thought it was pretty clear. Hats of to the kid though coz he showed great heart.

Problem with that suggestion is that other than Victor Laughlin I think all the A star officials are English.

I couldn't give a hoot where judges are from and I certainly don't think that had anything to do with the scoring on Sat. A robbery would've been if Simpson had pummeled him and they still gave it to Smith.

Simpson started too slowly in the first 4 rounds and that lost him the fight. I thought he still nicked it but his work was too untidy for me. It was a scrappy, scrappy fight and 8 of the rounds could've went either way.

All I hope is that Warren gives Simpson a rematch or can engineer a shot elsewhere like a European title or as Billy said the other day a title shot at Super-Bantamweight.

And Rob not every Scottish person has a vendetta against the English and not every Scottish person is bitter and twisted about things such as this. I know this wont bother you in the slightest but for all your efforts on here you don't half ruin it all by being a bloody tool.

I had Simpson by 2 rounds, maybe 3.

Even an Englishman next to me said that Simpson should have won.

Had Simpson winning by a couple myself. Good luck to Smith though, seems like an honest and decent guy, might even get a re-match down the line.

There wasnt any result of that fight that could be deemed a 'robbery'.

Everyone seems in agreement that it was a close fight. So you cant cry robbery. One score card certainly was skewed but it's not alien is it. There were that many close rounds that one judge could have given about 6 of them all to Simpson and another all to Smith. There were very few clear rounds so to come out with that score card doesnt reflect the fight but it's not difficult to understand how it was arrived at.
