You may see one tonight with Garcia vs Burgos, because Burgos is a high volume puncher who throws about 70+punches per round and Garcia throws about 34....If Garcia can't hurt Burgos we may have another upset.
The first 3 Marquez-Pacquiao fights were terrible decisions, but the fight with more historical significance I'd change the decision would be Hagler-Leonard. That fight was judged strictly on showmanship and not the merits of effective punching. From the get go, that fight was intented to have the more popular fighter have his hands raised. The media is the media, they bit and ate it up because its better business for them to air and print anything "Sugar Ray Leonard."
Listen to yourself, you'd be asking ref Richard Steele after asking Taylor if he was ok, to let the last several seconds tick away just so Taylor can see the bell. Yeah, boxing should implement a rule change and leave it to the discretion of the referee if a fighter has earned a right to see the final bell when he's not fit to continue in the final round. !:
:huh have you the seen fight? you realise there was 2 seconds left in the fight right? chavez wouldn't even had time to throw a combo by the time the bell went he got to his feet and got distracted by duva jumping on the side rope, steele should have done his job and made sure the ring was kept completely clear so either way taylor would have, and should have, lasted. *****.
The refs first instincts are the safety of the fighter. Is he fit to continue? If Steele had deemed Taylor fit to continue, then he looks around to see that the ring is clear for action to resume. ........and there was not 2 seconds on the clock when Steele waived it off, there was more like 6 or 7 seconds when steele stopped it. If you look at the tape, Steele waives it off but the official timekeeper does'nt stop the clock until there's two seconds left. It does'nt really matter if there was 1 second or 7 seconds left, the ref has no way of knowing nor should he for the purpose of stopping a fight care how many seconds are left. Steele made his decision to stop the fight with 7 seconds left, you're basically saying he should have stalled for those 7 seconds so Taylor could see the bell. atsch
Helenius vs Chisora, thats wasnt bad decision that was straight up robbery. Valuev vs Holyfield i scored it for Holyfield Sturm vs Delahoya JMM vs Pac 3
i recently rewatched chavez v whittaker. whittaker won most of his rounds big, whereas the rounds chavez won were all close giving the overall impression that whittaker had won easy, but on adding up the totals i was surprised to find that i had chavez 1 point up. Close fight either way definitely not a robbery same with chavez v taylor very close fight the first lewis holyfield fight was close lewis did nothing rounds 7 8 9 and 10 plus a couple of close ones. Commentators on the abril rios fight were off the mark, all abril did was jab and wrestle and spoil, rios wasn't much more effective but he did try to force the fight so you could see how the judges gave him rounds
To make things interesting, I will throw in one that wasn’t filmed. Greb Tunney II The media coverage came down very heavily in favour of Greb.
Lennox Lewis-Holyfield I Eugenia Williams & Terry O conner ought to have been Tarred & feathered Chavez jr Bryan Vera Vera kicked his fat useless ass Calzaghe - Hopkins How could Calzaghe ever win that fight he didnt throw 20 LEGITIMATE scoring punches all fight long I have loads more too
Ask Richard Steele why he stopped the Quincy Taylor - Keith Holmes fight ? Surely it wasnt because Holmes was managed by Don King's son Carl could itnut:nut
Geale won fair & square Sturm - De La Hoya Froch - Groves: Fight would countinued Ward - Kessler: DQ or atleast 1 warning for head butting Paulie - Broner: Paulie deserved the W Chavez Jr - Vera: Unfortiantly Chavez might fight Froch next, which he hasn't deserved. But the worst robbery i ever saw live, has to be: Helenius vs Chisora
