Chris John vs Juan Manuel Marquez: I can't believe that some people think that John won that fight...

Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao II, no robbery here but I felt Marquez won and he would have been rated pound for pound number 1 with that win.

Julien Lorcy vs Arnulfo Castillo I: despite going 2 time to the canvas in the first round, Lorcy put on a great show and clearly won the fight. But the judges gave a draw.

Came in here to post the exact same, absolutely shocking referee display. So bad I can actually remember what he looked like- stupid Gene Wilder hair with a mad tash.
Reid did look like getting DQ'd everytime he dared hit him. It ended up being a farce and the worst decision/performance I have ever seen. Even Reid was half laughing in his interview afterwards,he could hardly believe it was that bad.

Alot of people blame Steele and point to Don King having him in his pocket, but the reality is that HBO and its bias commentating crew tried to grill Richard Steele right there at ringside and Steele answered every question giving great insight into what was going through his mind as he analyzed Taylor.

Steele- "I dont care how many seconds are on the clock, when I see a fighter has had enough, I'm stopping the fight."

Just like you said Pablod about being there up close so that it sinks in just how brutally Taylor was getting beat down, years later in HBO's documentary "Legendary nights" Steele commented on the types of punches Chavez was landing.
........."Chavez was landing shots to break bones!"

At the hospital right after, doctors commented that Taylor's condition was the worst they had ever seen of a fighter being brought in that was still concious.

Yet to this day, you still you have idiots questioning and even butchering Steele for stopping the fight.
In public to this day, Steele gets verbally criticized for not letting Taylor see the end of the fight. :patsch:-(

Yeah divac its very rough on steele, but if i was him id much rather go down as the man who stopped a big fight too soon (although we agree he got it absolutely right) than the man who ignored his instincts and let a tragedy happen.
a lot of people cite eddie futch's finest corner work as the night he pulled frazier out in the closing stages of the thriller in manilla because most cornermen would probably have reasoned that as he'd come so far he could take a little more. Theres a case to be made for this being steeles finest hour, thank god we'll never know for sure.

Good point on Eddie Futch throwing the towel in against Ali when Frazier could not see the punches coming at him.

Like you said, alot of trainers would have reasoned that Frazier had earned the right to fight the final round like some here are saying Taylor earned the right to have Steele let it go on despite not being in condition to do so.

High praise should definitely go to Eddie Futch. Knowing that Frazier hated Ali the way he did, it must have been extremely difficult for him to throw the towel in, but he knew the life and long term health of his fighter came first before anything.

From what I understand, Frazier held that against Futch for many years, yet Futch never regretted not letting Frazier come out for the final round.
