Here we go again! Zarate Pintor to this very day is considered one of Boxings all time robberies. I watched the bout live and everyone who was with me gasped when the decision was announced. Horrible decision.

We're one off, with me calling the 4th as the only Trinidad round in the first 8. DLH looked like he might be able to force a stoppage after 8, but inexplicably took the pedal off the metal in the rounds that followed.

At my *absolute* most bend-over-backwards-generous to Tito, I still have DLH up 6-2-1 after 9 rounds.

To this day Zarate Pintor is found on just about every worst decisions of all time lists. Pintor came forward but landed little. Zarate outboxed Pintors face into a swollen bloody mess. I remember I was rooting for Pintor but he just was not getting off. Can't win a fight if your not landing punches.

Regarding the Hagler-Antuofermo "robbery", I scored the fight 8-7 Hagler. With a score like that after 15 rounds, I was OK with the draw. No robbery.

Zarate faded BADLY after a fast start. Pintor was the one landing most of the effective punches for the last half of the fight. Rounds 6-9 were fairly even and Pintor clearly took some of the later rounds.

And again: how many rounds did you think that Zarate clearly put in the bag? How many rounds did you feel that there was absolutely no way that any reasonable judge could give to Pintor?

It's not debatable. I recently watched the last few rounds. Aside from one right hand that knocked Zarate off balance all Pintor did was follow Carlos around the ring and eat jabs and combinations. End of the bout Zarate nearly unmarked while Pintor was a bloody swollen mess. Effective aggression is only effective if you are landing not eating punches.

I think I know what you are talking about when you mentioned knocking Zarate off balance. That was the 15th round and I remember actually scoring that round for Zarate and wondering afterwards how many people scored it for Pintor, who may have thought Zarate was hurt. That very well could have been a pivotal round in the two judges tallies. We benefitted from seeing it at one angle which clearly shows Zarate off-balance, but to an official at a different angle it may have looked like a stagger. Does anyone know a breakdown on the scores?

that "swollen bloody mess" is a big reason people have developed the myth of this match being a robbery. You don't score blood or swelling.

Another myth is that it's some sort of vicious beating when it's in fact a rather dull fight.

Amazing how historical truth is turned on its head on ESB. I was once young and inexperienced too. You will get over it.

Nobody ever called it a vicious beating.....EVER. Zarate just out punched and outboxed Pintor over 15 rounds. Pintor followed Zarate around the ring catching punches with his face. Hence the bloody swollen features and Zarates nearly unmarked face.

I just rewatched Hagler-Antuofermo I and scored it 10-4-1 Hagler. I don't see how Vito won any more than 6 rounds. Even when he came on late and finally started landing some punches, I still didn't see him do much damage. Cosell and the crowd went crazy every time he landed a punch though, even if they only grazed Hagler. Some close, competitive rounds but I thought that Hagler was clearly outboxing him and scoring cleaner punches (even down the stretch).
