Alfredo Escalera vs Tyrone Everette, Nov 30 1976, Everett won that fight, he was really robbed, and John Conteh vs Mate Parlov, june 17 1978, Parlov lost that bout, but it was held in Parlov's backyard in Belgrade, Yugoslavia.
A name that has come up a few times recently is Alan Rudkin. Apparently he lost hometowners to both Fighting Harada and Lionel Rose. I've never seen film of either but it is an indicator of how good a Fighter Rudkin must have been.
Schmeling vs Sharkey was touched on recently on another thread. Most have Schmeling although an honest result is impossible without the complete fight. I was surprised though many feel Schmeling only shaded the bout and that it was close. It is the fight where the term "robbery comes from" Schulz Foreman absolute Robbery Foreman vs Briggs absolute robbery Lewis vs Holyfield absolute robbery -hideous decision in a big fight Lewis vs Holyfield 2 no robbery - draw was possible -which kind of evens out result in first bout Holmes vs Spinks 2- robbery holmes vs nielson - robbery Ward vs Kovalev - robbery. strange fight in that the punches landed were very close round by round -but one fighter only bossed that fight. and it was kovalev
Gotta be honest I see alot of bad decisions being listed. Some that were actually close fights. The truth is there has really only been one robbery in the history of the game. It happened in 1988. South Korea. Roy Jones vs Park Cee Hun That was a crime. Pure and simple.
Some mocking forumists say a glove should put on Holyfields head because of the headbutts but they forget that Holyfield was: the 1st to drop Bowe the 1st to drop Mercer the 1st to drop Tyson with a body shot the 1st to win four times a title and probably the most robbed fighter ever
Rudkin was quality and both the Harada and Rose fights were brilliant - classics of the Bantamweight division. Personally, I think he came up short against Harada and that was a fair enough outcome. The Rose fight was a lot more contentious and Rudkin definitely had a claim for winning that one. While I think it was a pretty close fight overall, one of the judges disgracefully scored it 15-0 in rounds to Rose, which might be the worst single scorecard in the history of the sport. Been a good few years since I watched that one, but at the time I had it in the contentious, rather than robbery category - but most seem to feel I was being l kind to Rose and thought Rudkin should have walked away with the title. Should really have another look soon.
I agree, all of those were robberies, except Holyfield-Lewis 2. That one could have gone either way. I had Lewis winning narrowly.
