the worst thing in recent memory was when krasniqui got knocked by brewster in round eight. the ref counted ten...........then then told krasniqui to get up!!! krasniqui lost the fight to a round later anyways, but that just wasnt right. had that been in the states, there would have been hell to pay!!! so if that is boxing in germany getting better in the last 4 years, i dont wanna know what was going on beforehand
there is one problem: you haven't seen the fight yourself. like i said, i don't remember having seen it, either. so i just won't judge. it's the same with the miranda fight. the pictures of a totally destroyed abraham don't show the 5 points miranda got deducted rightfully. also didn't they show that abraham turned defensive, but that miranda just was not able to take over the fight. his aggressiveness was blind and considering the points he got deducted, it's impossible to give the decision to him. like i said before, if everything went right abraham should have been taken out the fight - so you may argue about that. but what's also important is abraham gave evidence he's a worthy champ. he's not to blame for the corruption, and he did what was necessary. so there's no need to disrespect him in any way. other than his 'neighbour' taylor, who's not only boring stylistically (to most, i still like him) but who gets questionable decisions on a regular basis. this is not germany's fault.
well, there is only one GERMAN BOXING MAG!!! "boxsport" is the only boxingmag in german. ring magazine you can only buy in very few places as i have experienced. and it cost 15 euros these days!!!! i bought one this summer at frankfurt airport when i was visiting relatives. and if you consider how poor the general german public is at speaking english (just horrible, plain horrible:verysad ), you can bet the only ones buying international boxing mags are foreigners!! the bottom line remains however is the fact that the way german boxing is run is akin to a totalitarian regime runnings its papers!! and that just plain freaks me out.
you're right. not only was it wrong (fighters are getting too much time kinda often) but it was too obviously and way too much time.
last time i looked, that kind of **** aint happening anywhere!!! name one recent heavyweight title fight in which the local fighter gets counted out and is then told to get up!! that **** happens in germany only.
i never heard about something like that happening in britain for example. nor in france. that really doesnt shine positive light on german boxing.
this is not true as i've once checked for boxing mags out of boredom and there were quite a few german ones. we got free market here, don't you know? that's true. it's a shame. but at least there even is ring magazine and other imported magazines here. when you're from canada - and i know you speak german - i guess you're maybe even trilingual, so especially you know for example how well americans and french people are in speaking languages except for their mother's tongue... this is nothing to blame germans for. stuff like this freaks you out? you must be living a great life to feel like this. not to insult you, but i'm getting reminded of a very snobby ***** i once got to know too well...
we don't even need to go far from tonight's big fight/abraham discussion etc.. just ask larry merchant about what he thinks smoger did wrong in pavlik/miranda. also, watch who's the ref in the next pavlik fight. this wasn't near krasniqi's level, but to a certain degree this stuff happens everywhere. except from that.. it didn't evn change the outcome of the fight, so who gives a ****.
not true:nono . name just one other german one outside of "boxsport". outside of ringmagazine, there is only boxing monthly.......and thats almost impossable to find. as for germans not speaking english: i have been to many european countries and in most places, the english is much better. i think it has to do with the fact that all the big hollywood movies get translated very well into german. thats not the case in other countries. they have to watch them in english with subtitles. but i do not "blame" the germans for this. when i say freaked out, i meant it in the sense that germany has great and very unbiased media coverage when it comes to news and so on !!!germans probably are top of the line in that, no question. but when it comes to boxing, its like a totalitarian regime. and that kinda rubs me the wrong way.
what are you talking about?? you dont give a **** if the rules are like totally tossed out the window.......just cause it didnt change the outcome??? if that is your way of going about boxing, then i cant take you seriously.
this is strange, i think even french people on this board will agree that they're even 'unabler' of talking english than we are. you shouldn't make the mistake and compare us to countries that are just ahead of us on a social level, like scandinavians and all the small parsite countries around germany like austria, belgium, switzerland and so on. i can't name any aside from boxsport, like i said, i didn't even know boxsport. but i know that a couple of months ago, when waiting for a train, i entered a store and found tons of boxing magazines, and they all sucked and were not able to catch my interest as there was massive nudity right next to them. overall, this topic may be one aspect of why boxing sucks here and there may be some odd imaginations about what's good boxing - but this doesn't make every single fight corrupted. maybe if you're so biased to even call this valuev fight a robbery it does, but from a neutral point of view everything looks fine overall.
i even called it wrong. what else do you want, to cry about it? i'm too pragmatic to get sucked into this kind of noble conversation.. also, i don't care whether you take me seriously or not, but since you're always ignoring and not commenting on the relevant points i made (like that this stuff does not only happen here), i wonder whether you're taking me seriously anyway. to me it looks more like you're just headed for conflict, not to find some sort of agreement by doing that. whatever.. i'm going to bed now. the longer i'm up the longer it'll take until i can see pavlik/taylor, this is something i just realized and it shows me how i wasted a lot of time in this thread by taking part in a circling discussion. damn. :?
now you must have been on some weird trip entering that store, cause there is only one german speaking boxing mag!!! and you cant even name one other one.....while claiming to have seen tons. and if you dont even know the german boxing print media, you obviously cant comment on wether boxing in germany is as corrupt and manipulated as i have pointed out. but still you say it all looks fine overall. maybe to you.......if you lack knowlege of the facts.
well the only thing i can read out of your posts is that you dont care much for the rules as long as the endresult is "pragmatic". we are talking about germany breaking the rules, thats basically all we have been talking about. and now you say you dont care about the rules.......cause we dont wanna "cry" about them, do we. how can you expect me to take someone who openly says stuff like that seriously??
