I thought that Sims put up a pretty good fight with Benn despite being late into his career- Who do you think would win if they fought at their respective peaks?
Sims only had blemishes in his career vs pretty talented guys,I'd say he had a chance of pulling up an upset,bt I'll side better with Benn for the odds though.
Yeah, the best chance Robbie has is with that right of his. He sure staggered Duran and Kalambay with it. Go to 13:25, it's near the end of round 2. This content is protected
Sims was an honest blue collar fighter who usually came up short at the elite level. He would come up short here. Benn was elite. Benn by stoppage
Peak Benn was at Super-middle with wins over McClellan, Wharton and what should have been a win inEubank II. At middle he was very hot and cold. Apart from his 2 ko losses vs Eubank I and Watson, he was floored (and very lucky not to get stopped) vs Anthony Logan and also Doug DeWitt and struggled with Sanderline Williams and Reggie Miller. Was also stunned by Barkley in an unforgettable round of boxing. Had some terrific knockout over some durable fights like Tim Williams, Fermin Chirino and fellow punchers Jose Quinones and Barkley. Really lit up British boxing with his 22 straight stoppages. Won the Commonwealth title and made 4 title defenses in a total of 8 rounds! Simms looked great destroying John Collins in a round, stopping a young Barkley and beating Duran and DeWitt I. Struggled with movers and was very inconsistent. Robbie didn´t have his half-brother´s iron chin but he only failed to go the distance in the Benn fight when he was long in the tooth. It was Nigel´s last fight at middleweight. Would be a hell of a fight, if Benn fought like Barkley Simms might score an upset but the Benn that got off the floor to dominate Doug Dewitt (fresh off wins Matthew Hilton and Simms II) I think would win a competitive decision and maybe a late stoppage.
