Don't reckon he has more 1 punch KO power, pound for pound than Nonito Donaire.

Maidana faded fast in his most recent fight. I thought he was a gonner in mid rounds before he landed those heavy right hands.

Soto was banging his body, that is why he was gassing. But he dug deep and put his ass to sleep.

Well who has Maidana one punch KO'd like Donaire did to Darchinyan and Montiel?

Obviously Maidana punches harder than the two because hes a lot bigger. But p4p- don't think so.

Im pretty sure Garcia means, if you hold your hand up and have one of them hit it, who is going to hit harder.

Not talking p4p here. Garcia is saying that Maidana is the strongest puncher hes had, period.

I think he has good power but I too dont think its sensational by any means. He def has heavy hands and hits hard, I just dont think hes this sensational KO puncher like he gets billed as. Still good power though, and I like him as a fighter.

And yes, Garcia would know, but on the other hand I dont tend to take trainers opinions of the fighters they are currently getting paid by all that serious.

Definitely more brute power. Donaire is a better puncher, though. Different things, though.

    P4P who knows for sure.

The thing that struck me about Maidana's performance against JSK was how polished he looked compared to his usual self, especially with his use of the jab. He was arguably even cruder than Rios when he started with Garcia and was showing things after one training camp that Rios hasn't demonstrated at all really.

I think maybe Maidana is more heavy handed. Nonito seemed alot bigger than Vic and Montiel, but he has perfect stance, leverage, and timing on his punches result in alot of pop. Maidana when not windmilling he's mauling his opponents, but its all very unorganized. Very, very physical fighter, but not much of a thinker. Some fluidity, footwork, basic fundamentals like waist movement for defense or move to your left against a southpaw or lead right would help him massively, but many times its not the trainer, but the fighter having trouble grasping the concept. If I were Garcia I would help Maidana focus mainly to the body. Its his only chance competing vs the welterweights. He'd get outboxed again by Alexander or even outgunned by the likes of Bailey. Needs to focus on bodyshots and throwing jabs to set them up and move laterally instead of charging in a straight line. Move like a soccer player he might be familiar with that!

Rios is not crude at all. He s one of the more disciplined punchers in boxing and he is very good at what he does. He is a seek and destroy styled boxer.

Guys here don't know what skill is when they see it. They think guys like Rios or Margarito are unskilled brawlers. And they will NOT back down from that opinion no matter what. Anyway, how you doing old timer? Good to see you posting again!
