During All-Access one of the things Garcia told Maidana was,

"Throw a lot of punches, but don't get too close so that you can throw the straight right hand."

Controlling the distance is one of the most important things you can do in a fight. The fighter who keeps the fight where he wants it wins the fight on overwhelming amount of the time. Needless to say, Floyd is a master of it. I showed some clips on it during a film study for the rematch

    Mayweather vs Maidana Film Study

The thing is even though Garcia is giving Maidana the correct instructions, that doesn't mean he's going to be able to execute it against Mayweather come fight night. Floyd has every advantage; footwork, footspeed, handspeed, defensive ability, ability to adapt etc. Now on top of all that Mayweather has decided to work with Ariza. Guaranteed he comes in to this fight with more muscle than we've ever seen him with before. I think Floyd's ego is pushing him to go for the stoppage on this one.

i kinda feel sorry for maidana ...i think floyd is holding back in those interviews and seething inside...floyd's plotting to hurt him bad. i can see a broken jaw, busted teeth and a lotta blunt force trauma in maidana's future.

Not sure if that strategy will work for Chino. Weeks ago, when Chino said that he would try to maintain his distance I thought it was a bad idea. Like he was actually thinking about boxing Mayweather. I know he has to make some adjustments in order to be successful in the rematch but I don't know if this one will work. Money wants him to maintain distance. If he does that, May more than likely will pick him apart. Part of the reason the last fight was so difficult for him was because he couldn't keep Chino off of him. Gotta realize that Mayweather is making adjustments, too. Won't be the same guy on the 13th. I would like to see Chino do exactly what he did in the last fight without gassing and see how Mayweather adjusts to it. Not if he can adjust but how he will adjust. He is the best in the sport at that, so we'll see...

Doesn't matter what Garcia noticed, his fighter won't be able to implement it.

    I dont think so.
Mayweather hunting plays into Maidana's hands.
Mayweather needs to move more laterally. Stop on a dime, fire, and move. He's got to use his quickness and speed that way.

The way Mayweather plays defense with his shoulder roll allows him to get lazy with most fighters, however his defense against a fighter like Maidana who's reach is comparable to his and who throws a looping over the top right hand, does'nt allow the shoulder roll to be as effective as it would with conventional type punching.

The angles and arc in which Maidana throws his shots get in against shell and roll type defenses.
Mayweather will certainly have to adapt and not use that shoulder roll, or pull straight back as much as he usually likes.
Luckily for Mayweather, Maidana is only a good and not a great fighter.

Garcia knows boxing, but he will need a better fighter than Maidana to pull out a victory over Floyd Mayweather.

I don't believe that Floyd was holding anything back in the first fight, or chose to fight the way he did for the fans. His legs are gone. Period. He might be able to do some adjustments for the rematch, but I expect pretty much the same kind of fight. I hope I'm wrong, but i'm not wrong.

The fight before Mayweather moved great vs Guerrero, so no, I dont think his legs are shot.

I agree with you, I dont think Mayweather held anything back, but I do think that he did'nt respect Maidana and took him lightly.
I think Mayweather just thought he could pretty much get in the ring and do anything he wished vs Maidana and did'nt prepare for a gameplan that would have him using his legs to manuever the ring and create angles to frustrate Maidana.
I think Mayweather thought he could just sit back and shoulder roll and shoot back counters.
He knows different now and I'm pretty certain he will train accordingly.

No question about the outcome on this one, Money May all day. All those people who are blowing Maidana's head up are setting him up for trouble. Floyd is coming out to make a point on this one. Mayweather is no fool, he knows Maidana is soft to the body, especially after seeing him at the weigh in.

I think theyre gonna lure Mayweather to come in and try to punch with Mayweather. Maidana is going to time an overhand or straight right when Mayweather throws his.

:lol::lol: Maidana barely landed anything of note in the second half of the fight. A draw or a win my arse!
