Unless Garcia can perform heart surgery it won't make a difference in the outcome of this match.

I don’t blame AJ for making a change. Robert is a decent trainer but he’s not a miracle worker. AJ’s only chance is a distracted Usyk (who could blame him) or corrupt judges (this is boxing).

A fully functioning focused version of Usyk destroys AJ regardless of who is training him. I could easily see Usyk knocking him out this time after AJ gasses early.

Interesting pick has Garcia trained a top heavyweight before?

I guess his ability to cut the ring and fight inside might improve?

I watch bits of the first fight recently and Joshua though losing was pretty competitive at least for the first 6-7 rounds even won a few in the middle of the fight but the flood gates really opened down the stretch as he could not maintain the pace and wilted. Sort of like Martinez against Pavlik though I think Pavlik was more competitive longer than Joshua was vs usyk

What I get out of the first fight:

Usyk is the better boxer, this is not for debate most probably figured this going into the fight

    Usyk has better conditioning

Joshua has physical advantages that he can use to his beneft

    Joshua can hurt Usyk

    Usyk can hurt Joshua

I think Joshua needs to have a Wilder like approach and just bank on setting up his right hand and go for it. He is not going to out box Usyk, he may be able to drag him into a war and try and in fight and use his size but that has never really been his thing. He can use his jab and reach and height to try and keep Usyk out of range and lure him in with a right hand and hope he can knock him out. I think really that is his path to victory. He had moments where he did counter Usyk well and when he did hit the body it seemed to have some effect. I think those two things could be his keys to victory. That said its a long shot

Even if he was the best trainer in the world it takes a lot longer than a few months to train new instincts into a fighter. There is very little you can change mentally and instinctually about a fighter in that time, especially a 33 year old.

Can't possibly be worse than SmokesCracken. Though on face value seems like an odd pairing. I can't really recall Robert having much experience training fighters from the higher weights and to me he seems like a trainer in a low point of his career. 10 years ago he had a lot of success.
Trainers will go through their own kind of slumps depending on the fighters they have in their stable, a lot of boxers have left him or aren't in their peak anymore.

Maybe that's what they are going for though. A trainer that can dedicate himself to Joshua completely.

In my opinion it's what Usyk might lack going into this fight which will impact the result, not what Joshua can add with a new trainer.
The mental and physical hell he has been through this year can't possibly have him in the same place he was coming into their first fight.

Joshua's only shot at Usyk is preferential treatment by the officials.

Mikey was an undefeated 4 weight divisions world champion until he went to his 5 weight division and lost to Erroll Spence Jr.

Perhaps it's an odd partnership but maybe that's the intention.

The McCracken duo had gone on long enough and AJ needed that change as it all became a bit stale. That being said AJ needs time for this to gel into place so won't happen over one fight. That one fight happens to be against a man who simply is better than him.

Usyk wins the rematch regardless of Garcia trying to remould AJ.

Robert Garcia is a great trainer but I don’t know about his fit with AJ. This could be Floyd Sr & Ricky Hatton bad or possibly Virgil Hunter & Amir Khan.. I would have preferred him going with Johnathan Banks or Ronnie Shields. That said by him going with Garcia this is a clear sign that he’s gonna be very aggressive in the rematch and that fight isn’t going 12 rds win or lose.

Don't understand why people think AJ has a bad chin. It's not the best, but he's never been fully knocked out. He's been hurt plenty of times and survived.

Usyk wont be distracted. If he was, he'd not agree to come back. Simple. Usyk is intelligent and wise, he wouldn't risk coming back if it meant he'd be no where near his best.

The world wont stop turning because of the war, and Usyk is strong mentally.

Realise there are also other Ukrainian athletes competing right now despite the war.

Usyk could potentially be more motivated to win because of this.

I can already predict what will happen if AJ beats Usyk.

"Another AJ victory over someone past their prime/old"

    it dont matter
    uysk skill level
    foot work
    lateral movement
defence is on another level to josh
    he loses againg
he loses 9 times out of 10 imo
bar a lucky shot which i just dont see in that 1 out of 10
his confidence will be low after being taken to task by the smaller man yet again
